Overland Warehouse 2.0 suspension installed

I just got the 2.0 kit from OW installed and had a chance to take it out for a quick city/highway/light offroad run to try it out. I ditched XREAS for this. Most of my driving is highway and rough gravel roads (maybe 50/50, or 60/40). I do more challenging offroad runs and rock crawls maybe once every month or two. I don't do much city driving.

I wanted a lift because I wanted more ground clearance for offroading, my tiers were rubbing a bit, and I want to add more weight (skids, bumper). Since I had the money and my XREAS had almost 100,000 miles on it and was starting to feel a little soft, I figured now was the time and this was the system. Sevice from the guys at OW is second to none. This kit, and the beefier 2.5 kit, are THE kits to get for our trucks. They really are an excellent value.

Overall very satisfied so far. The OW system feels a bit better at soaking up bumps on road and on rough gravel roads - it feels like there is less bump steer. It feels stiffer than XREAS, but there is less bounce and it dampens better. (XREAS was old and starting to lose it's dampening on rougher terrain.) The truck cornered way better with XREAS, but that was too be expected with the lower centre of gravity.

In a nutsheel: OW is better offroad in every way than XREAS, and better ride on road. XREAS has sportier handing and better cornering on road.

These are my first impressions, and I hope to give a more detailed review of my experience with it as time goes on.

I'm surprised to hear your rig corners worse with the OW kit. I can see the lift / center of gravity having an affect, however I would have thought the tighter and quicker to react new suspension would compensate for that. Maybe your cornering would improve with the swaybar bushing mod.

I'm just going to say welcome to the family, because I have a 5th.

But I think my truck actually corners better with the lift and larger tires then with the stock set up.

Otherwise yeah where are the pics?

You will love the system the more miles you get on it.

I'd like to hear more on the cornering too as I plan on going from XReas (with 60K miles) to the OW2.0 sometime this Spring. Can you provide any more info?

I wouldn't hesitiate to go from XREAS to OW, especially if you offroad. If you don't offroad, and your XREAS still works for you, I'd save your money for something else.

The OW handles well, and feels like it keeps the truck as level, or almost as level as the XREAS did (at least my 100,000 mile-old XREAS). Really, the things that feels the most different during cornering is the higher centre of gravity.

I don't do much real off-roading but frequently use logging and gravel roads and in the winter the roads here are worse than those - particularly when the frost heaves set up. My XReas works fine but I want a lift, don't want go downhill in shock performance. Also my ride has been squirley and it seems either my upper or lower ball is bent so I plan on replacing the UCA when I do the lift. OW is probably a bit overkill but I plan on keeping this for a long time so I want to do it right.

OW is not going to be downhill in handling, other than centre of gravity, so you'll have to take corners a bit slower. Otherwise it does a great job, and propably outperforms XREAS, especially on bumpy roads. It might even do better in emergency handling, but I haven't tested that. If you don't change the UCAs, you might lose some highway handling.

One thing to watch out for is the adjustability. Apparently it has (all adjustable coil overs that it) a tendancy to seize up in snowly/salty climates. Keep it well oiled with anitseize or Boeshield and wash it down regularly in winter. I haven't had it long enough to see how it does in this regard, but we don't get much snow or use much salt where I am compared to Maine.

Here are some long overdue photos, with the LR UCAs.

Rust is definately a concern for me but I'm just going to have to keep Boeshield on them. I've never used it but I've read good things. Regarding performance my real concerns are that highway performance doesn't get worse - the 4Runner's have such tight stearing. I'll widen the wheels with either new rims or spacers too but I don't know how much that really compensates for height.

Nice truck though, I like the higher stance.

If you want a lift, and you can afford all the associated costs of installation, alignment, UCAs etc., I don't think there is a better option that OW. I went through the same concerns as you, and I do a lot of Highway driving, like several-week road trips down to California and Arizona, and I am fully satisfied with the OW. You'll get used to the higher centre of gravity really fast, and otherwise the system is an upgrade from XREAS, not a downgrade.
