Overlanding to Patagonia

My brother [MENTION=143869]tflem[/MENTION] and his wife are overlanding from Dallas, TX to Patagonia, Argentina through Central and South America. They left on August 23rd and should return in April.

As much as they wanted a classic VW van for pictures, my wife and I persuaded them to buy a 4Runner instead. (A Landrover will take you there, a 4Runner will bring you back). After buying it, I turned him to the forum with numerous links I had read/remembered/bookmarked while being active on the site. Here's how it sat when he drove it home from Denver after visiting us.

What I do know they've added:
Baja Roof Rack
Tepui Tent
Full RCI Aluminum Skids

They're keeping a blog, instagram, facebook, snapchat page of their travels. Some of it is geared more towards helping other that may be interested in taking the same trip. Here are the links to their stuff:

They made it to Guatemala and started to do more camping than staying in hotels.

I looked into this sort of trip once, but was put off by the no roads between Panama and Columbia part.

The way they're "dealing with that" is while the car is in transit to Colombia for 3 days, there are companies that are designed around that delay. So they will take you on a 3 day cruise to an island in the Caribbean. All expenses paid.

By the time your cruise is over, your car is ready to be picked up.
