Should be a good time! You will very likely acquire some new pinstripes while you're out there.
Here's my last outing. I took things pretty easy and basic 4-Low got me through it all. I definitely could have pushed it harder, but I was the only one out there. There are a couple good mud puddles. Just stay away from the mud near the lake. That stuff will suck you down.
:wave:From the KC area (Johnson County) and my fiance and I are always looking to tag along for a weekend trip.
This weekend I'm checking out the Cimarron National Grasslands in southwest Kansas (Sun-Tues).
Sep. 15-19 we'll be heading out to the Telluride/Ouray, CO area for some trails and camping before the snow hits. Definitely wouldn't mind some others tagging along!

BTW are those 34"s? Been toying with the idea of going from pizza cutters to a size bigger....
Are you planning to do any wheeling out there on that Sunday? We'd drive out there if so, I just don't think we can make Saturday.
Yes, mine are 285/75R17's or the "skinny" 34's. Your other option would be the 305/70R17, which are the exact same diameter, but a 12in wide tire opposed to an 11.2in wide tire. I also run a 1.25in spacer. BMC for sure and I trimmed nearly 4-5 inches from the bottom of my Limeted bumper.

Checking in from NE Missouri.
Just got back from a 4 day trip to Colorado. Did Black Bear, Imogene, Cinnamon, Engineer, California, Mineral Creek and of course Poughkeepsie Gulch.

For those of you who are in Kansas City, I'll be attending Cars and Coffee if anyone is planning on going. They usually have the SUV's/Trucks park in the grass at the entrance. There was a white 10-13 parked by me with OME BP-51 and C4 sliders and SCS wheels at the last one I went to. It's at a place called Stone Gate Motor Plaza.

We changed our plans after a couple others had to bail from Tuttle plans. We are now going camping and MTBing out at White Rock conservancy in Iowa this weekend. Let me know if there is another weekend in Sept. that works and we can get a Tuttle trip penned!
Good info on the tires. I've been thinking of 34"s, just worried about stock gearing robbing more power! Hows the acceleration?

I'm in Olathe (South KC) and had my 18 Off Road since May. But I had 4 Toyota rigs prior to this one that all went off road. So I have always had my eyes peeled!
The KC "group" that Inv4drZm mentioned has sadly gotten smaller over the years, but a few of us are planning to go out to Tuttle this coming Sat. at 10am. Myself and an FJ80 are going for sure, and possibly another buddy with an FJ. We are meeting Inv4drZm, his brothers FJ, and a few of their buddies out there. If anyone wants to join, more Toyotas is always a good time!

I am usually there as well, parked out in the middle of no where. Nothing to really set me apart from the rest though! Its a silver Off Road with Pro front plastics, lift, and 285 MTRs. Sliders are in the garage waiting to be installed, and hope to get a winch/skids on in the next few months.
I will always have my 0.0 and Bill Murray stickers on the back side glass though. So if you see a combination of all of those things, definitely say hi :cheers:
Acceleration is okay and it's not as "peppy" as it was with 265/70R17's. If you mash the throttle down further it'll get up to highway speeds just fine. Keep in mind your speedometer will read lower than actual speed. Speedo-indicated 65 is now a GPS-indicated 68-69.
Mileage took the biggest hit. I just took a 1000 mile round trip across Kansas and averaged 15mpg, accounting for the tire size correction. Last summer I took a trip down to Arkansas and averaged 18mpg with a similar payload, but smaller tires. I'm also a Limited with full-time 4WD, so part-time 4WD may perform better.

Hey fellow Midwesterner's!
I will be wheeling Tuttle Creek near Manhattan, KS this coming Saturday, Sept. 29th with two other Omaha 4Runner's. Probably starting around 9 or so. We are also camping at the state park just to the north Friday night.
