P-Metric Duratracs - Who's seen them?

I love mine so at, they are great in the sand, no off road yet. Here is my take on them,

The c rate weight 44 lbs, the p rate weight 43,

The c rate payload is lower at same psi 51 max,

Tread depth is less with the p rated tire, I think gy made the tire the same as the c rate but can't call it a c rate since the depth is less

Thanks for the quick reply c0astie31. Glad that you are happy with them so far. How many miles do you have on them?

dont quote me, but i am going to say they are same tire, but depth of thread is not as much. the psi is the same, and the pounds are higher for the p rated one, but they cant say it is a c rated tire because the tread depth

Quoting you  to make the point that tread depth does not contribute to determinations of load rating. But would be good to know specific sidewall or other differences that make these Pmetric. I see the pmetrics have lower max pressure and are lighter as would be expected, suggesting that the changes to the tires are real and not just marketing to grab more share.

For example, look at the 275 60 20 vs 275 65 20 specs. First is Pmetric and second is e rated. The 65 is a bigger tire with 1.1 increase in diameter but same width. Weight, load and pressure on the e rated is through the roof.

All I am saying is the specs for the p rate and c rate are pretty identical with the exception of the tread depth,

The p rate has a higher weight capacity than the c rate too, which makes me think that they are the same tire with just less tread,

They weight about the same, one pound diff.

I agree with the comparison between the P and C. P & E will definitely be different as should be expected.

Good post on the dura's as I am looking at replacing my very street-only LTX M/S2s with the duras - principally for better snow and ice traction - just found out I will be shipping up to Anchorage AK for work...it's a long way from Texas :(

P metric tires load rating is reduced by 9% when used on trucks or SUVs, so they are even closer.
P265/70/17 - (2679*.91) 2430
LT265/70/17c - 2470

Worth noting....

The P tire achieves max capacity at 36psi, the Load C needs 50psi.

The Standard Load Duratracs are apparently Euro-metric rather than P-metric which slightly changes a few numbers but are virtually interchangeable when being compared to LT.
