p0302 cylinder 2 misfire help......

i have the code p0302 cylinder 2 misfire code coming up. i've changed the spark plugs and spark plug wires with all oem toyota parts. still getting misfire in cylinder 2. is there anything i could do to try to fix this or am i gonna have to take it in to get looked at. should i get new coil packs. can you switch the coil packs to see if the code will change if that is the problem. any help would be great. thanks, i also have a code reader to check so no needing to go to autozone all the time. thanks

its a 97 v6 automatic. 3.4 liter engine

Ok well the coils are shared with two cylinders on that engine, but that does not mean the coil is not the cause. Try to swap the coil to another pair of cylinders and see if it moves.

I have seen fuel injector problems on the 3.4s too.

does it matter which ones i switch should. obviously the front one has to be moved since i believe that cylinder is cylinder 2. thanks for the help. i'll give it a try soon.

Doesn't really matter which coil you swap. from the front, cylinder 2,4,6 is on the driverside, and 1,3,5 on the passenger side.

If swaping the coil does not move the missfire, it's probably a faulty or clogged #2 injector.

If its not the coil...then you mentioned a clogged or faulty injector #2. Is this something I could fix? How do you do it? Should I take it to a shop. If its not hard I would like to try if I would save lots of $. Let me know. Thanks for your help so far...

If it turns out being the injector, it is a difficult job to do yourself if you're not a mechanic. You will have to remove the intake manifold to get to the driverside injectors. And it will be best to replace them all if one is bad.(better to pay the extra part cost, vs. paying extra part on top of more labor later.....JMO). If the fuel rail is really dirty inside clogging the injectors, you will need to clean all that debris out of there. The injector can also fail electronicly, and just not work.

Try the coil first....you don'r have anything to lose. Also make sure you have good connections on the #2 ignition wire. You can also check for spark at cylinder #2 at the end of the wire where it connects to the spark plug. If you don't have a spark tester they are cheap....
