p0302 Troubleshoot. 2000 Unlimited

Truck went from running smooth to rough, with CEL and P0302 code.
I read several post from search to get some basic understanding of the problem.
I swapped #5 and #1 coil packs, and 0302 remained. Cleared once again, then swapped #2 and #4 plugs, noting #2 was bone dry upon removal. p0302 remained.
At this point thinking it is either a bad wire or injector. Wires have 35k miles as do the plugs.

Leaning towards the injector. Would the forum agree?
Need to resolve this as best possible and as low costs as possible, as lost my job last month.

Sorry to hear about the job loss. Hopefully another will come soon for ya.

I would try and perform a compression test, or even better a leak down test. Losing any coolant? Did the plug on #2 smell like gas? Any white smoke from the tailpipe?

My gut says though you are probably correct in your diagnosis but it wouldn’t hurt to carefully look over that plug wire....

Lil Caesar, thank you for the reply.
No loss of coolant, zero smoke, and no smell. The plug was very dry in appearance.
How do you check the wire? I only know ohms test for continuity,and iamsureitwillshow continuity.

Nothing more than a cursory glance over, especially where the wire covers the plug. I had one in Cyl #4 tear only so slightly but cause a misfire.

Seems to have been the #2 injector. I replaced all 6 injectors and took the opportunity to do the valve covers while I was in there. Both injectors and valve cover gaskets were easily done. Thanks to all the encouragement along the way. Special thanks to Tim and his videos. Watched them both, made a few notes, and these repairs were easily accomplished in a day. Can’t imagine the money saved by doing this myself.
