P0305 Question

Hi guys,

My 3rd gen 5vzfe threw p0305 code. Plugs, wires, and coils are new. Injectors are refurbished from Motorwest. All these were done 7 months ago due to a cylinder 4 misfire. I swapped 3 and 5 coils, the code didn't move. No Coolant loss, oil level stays the same.

The misfire only happens when car is cold and then it smoothens after a minute. and then runs fine after. sometimes, just stepping on the gas clears the cold start misfire.

Before I remove injector 5 and have Motorwest replace under warranty, is there anything I can do to make sure it is the injector?

Thanks,

Basically doing this method of testing (its a diesel but the principle is the same).

You said you already swapped the wiring to see if the code would change, and it didn't.

It sounds like your issue is with the fuel injector, if it were my car with the original injectors I'd probably go to more trouble to swap the injector to a different cylinder to know for sure. But being under warranty I wouldn't spend a ton of time since you can just get a new one.

A last ditch effort I would try running some fuel treatment like seafoam to see if it might unclog the injector.

I was kinda hoping it wasn't the injectors. Ok thanks, looks like I have some work to do. And since it is still under warranty, it would be the cheapest thing to try.
