P0306 Code and is shuttering.

A friend has a 2000 4runner V6 that just started shuttering and is low on engine power. It is throwing a P0306 code. Does anyone know what might be causing it? He looked online and it said head gasket, but the gasket was just replaced in the past year.

Thanks.

Those symptoms sound like a pretty consistent misfire. p0306 means it's cylinder #6. Could be caused by a few things.

First check for spark.

If you have spark. Check the injector, make sure it's firing. A couple methods here. Stethoscope, listen to all the injectors as the truck runs, make sure they sound the same. You can also check them with a DVOM, make sure they all show resistance in the same range.

If your injectors are all firing, and you have spark, then you should start thinking about burned valves, or other mechanical problems

Hope that helps. Luck

Thank Red I will pass this information along to him. I'll probably look at it with him this weekend to see if we can figure it out.
