Got the 4Runner stuck in water for an hour before getting pulled out and about a week later started getting a knocking noise when I would turn ignition. Thought it was a dead battery at first but turn the key a few more times and the engine would start up and run fine. It's not a solenoid type of click, it's a knock coming from the engine when you turn the ignition and nothing else happens. This went on for a few days and then started getting codes P0335 and P0340 which is camshaft and crankshaft position sensor circuit's. It seems like some electronics got wet but it's kind of strange that the problem didn't show up until a week after. This is an intermittent problem and it runs fine even if the check engine light is on. You just have to hit the key three or four times to get it to turn over. By the way checked other fluids and no water in the engine or diffs. There were virtually no problems after I got pulled out of the water.
Anyone have this problem before after being in water? Just wondering where to start looking for water as it's been almost two weeks now so I thought everything would have been dry after a few days .
