P0442 p0446

Had an inspection done Monday to get car registered. Wednesday...VSC and TRAC and check engine lights come on.

Code reader states P0442 P0446. I did clear them but have not driven yet.

Then I started to read the posts and watch youtube about possible fixes.

Sounds like cleaning gas cap/cap fillup area is first. Maybe even replace cap first.

I got a new one from napa.

Bought a new one from napa too. $10 does not have the string attachment but that is ok. It definitely fits more snug. Will see what happens.

I don’t know about Toyota but my Saturns have specific operating conditions where it will check the EVAP system. One of them is it has to be between 1/4 and 3/4 tank. Another is to outside temp can’t be too cold. I think it’s around 40 degrees F.
