P255/75R-17 on 5th gen

Anybody running P255/75R-17 on a stock 5th gen? I'm thinking about Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor from Discount Tire. I'm going to keep my 2013 TE mostly stock for the next couple of years. Don't run in deep mud or sand. Will be dealing, mostly, with lots of snow. And only get out to CO, UT, AZ once a year. They won't give me much extra ground clearance, but seem like a reasonable compromise given the conditions I drive in. Thanks.

Thanks. I must have missed you. I only saw 3rd and 4th gen running 255s when searching. Well I spent the whole day doing research and decided to go with Bilstein 5100s at .85 and 255s. So, I answered my own question....

Got mine from a buddy who took them (BFG Mud Terrain KM 255/75R17) off his Jeep. They are great.

I really liked them. They need to be siped though, and I did it on my own. That really assisted with the wet/snow traction.

Im sitting at stock form/height and I'm looking to throw a set of takeoffs on mine this week. Really needed to see your guys rigs with the tires and no fitment issues

The ST MAXX are great tires for the price. If you are more onroad then offroad I think its the best option for the size. There is also the KM2 255/80 if you want to drop a bit more coin and have some more offroad capability. No rubbing with my setup

Thanks. I love the tires for my needs. I hit the trails as much as I can, but it's my DD and I drive a lot. Having built several Jeeps running wider tires, the skinny tires make a difference. No Spacers and only minor rubbing when flexing and turning. I could easily fix that with some minor trimming, but a Shrockworks bumper was haunting my dreams.

Right now I have Bill Stein 5100 all around, Toytec springs in the rear and OME 883 springs in the front. I have a set of Toytec BOSS struts in my garage going in this weekend ...

Awesome man! Yea I'm leaning towards possibly the 6112-5160 route, although haven't decided on coils yet. When I do get the lift in though, I'm most likely springing for the Cooper STT Pro's!

Hi,
I am running 255/75/17 MT takeoffs on my 2013 4Runner and have been generally pleased with the performance off road. The only problems I have had are THREE flats in the past six months.

I have run Load Range E tires, usually Michelin, all of my adult life. Previously, I was running 235/80/17 Load Range E Michelin AT/2s but found that they did not work as well out west as they did in Maine where I used to live. This summer I had three flats on the BFG MTs, all in the right front. Two of them were road debris up through the tread and were plugged. The third was a catastrophic sidewall cut off road that I was able to repair in the field and limp out of the woods with.

I wound up buying two more new takeoffs, putting them on the front By keeping an eye on Craigslist, I can usually find these new for around $100 per tire. I will be going back to Load Range E tires as soon as I run these down far enough. In the interim, I have added significantly to my tire repair capabilities and expertise.

Does anyone know what tires I should replace my stock one with if I plan on spending a lot of Time on the highway in pretty bad snow conditions, I also would like to take it on some trails when I get a bit more time and find some locations. From the comments I have read about the stock tires that come on the trail it sounds like I should Upgrade to a better quality tire. Sorry for all the questions but I'm still a newb with these 4runners.

Also does anyone know what I should do with the stock tires, they have about 500 miles on them and I'm not sure what the best place to sell them besides the classified section. Any thoughts of how Much they might be worth?

Check out the Cooper Discoverer ATW's. It's what I run and really like them. They are not as aggressive as some all terrain tires, but they are snow rated and are very good on-road and in the snow. You will probably have better luck selling your tires locally, for example on Craigslist.

go to one of the national tire companies...discount tire, national tire, etc and they may have an exchange program where they will take the stock tires as a trade in on a new set of tires.

i would look at any of the AT tires out there...BFG KO2, Cooper AT3, General Grabbers etc...they all make great AT tires in 265/70/17...

Check out the Cooper Discoverer ATW's. It's what I run and really like them. They are not as aggressive as some all terrain tires, but they are snow rated and are very good on-road and in the snow. You will probably have better luck selling your tires locally, for example on Craigslist.

Gotta 2nd this. I know the ATW was highly rated from Canadian Tire, where it did very well in the snow and had the highest hydroplaning resistance. This would be very useful in snowy/wet highway conditions. Other reviewers also seemed to love this tire. I probably would have gotten these, had I not just picked up a pair of dedicated winter tires.
