P4 Spare parts build

I put together a P4/800 Intel machine together. No video on boot, also no error beeps. CPU, MB, HD, and radeon video. 12.0 VDC at connectors.
I'm on a good monitor. No readily availablke AGP Video cards to try. Not positive if mobo is good. any voltage checks or the like to test if AGP slot is good? Tried DVI out also. 512 MB to test. thanks guys.

If I did borrow an AGP card, and this board is not giving any error beeps, it should be OK to test without a chance of damaging the video card. ?? any thoughts??

Just don't place the board in a conductor surface(ex. chasis). Also, can you check first if there is power in your AGP socket before inserting that video card.
hows the CPU(processor) is it warm?
how about the fan, is the fan speed appear to be normal?

I thought I would try booting up without the KB & mouse, no beeps. There should be an error beep for that. I can find 5 VDC and 12 VDC on the 20 pin AT PS. I can't find 3.3 VDC. Big Fluke tips. I'll try another PS soon from a P-III I have. AGP card is still questinable. thanks.

No keyboard/mouse connected does not give POST beeps.

Begin by disconnecting all non-essential peripherals (keyboard, mouse, hard drive, floppy, cdrom). Bare minimum needed to boot is power, video card, memory, processor.

Boot. Successful? Add peripherals one at a time till you locate problem device. Still no boot? Keep going.

Take the video card out. Ensure motherboard supports video card (i.e. AGP8x versus AGP4x etc).

Boot. You should get one long two short beeps. No beeps? Potentially a bad motherboard. Keep going.

Remove memory- verify it is of the correct specification for the board/processor being used.

Boot.

Should get lots of beeps and sound pissed off. No beeps? Potentially a bad motherboard. Keep going.

Put video back in.

Put memory back in.

Boot.

Normal? Good- memory and/or video not seated properly. No boot still? Keep going.

Remove processor carefully. Examine bottom side of processor and check for bent pins. Reinstall processor carefully making sure it seats correctly. Lower the processor retention arm. Reinstall heatsink if removed from processor.

Boot.

Normal? Good- processor was not seated properly. Nothing? Keep going.

Reset bios per board manufacturers instructions.

Boot.

Still nothing? Try another video card. AGP or PCI should work.

Boot.

Still nothing? Recommend trying another motherboard.

OK, most everything out and video card, no beeps. Fans are spinning. Any chance that the PS is not enough to drive the board? if not, then this P4 mobo is toast. reset BIOS also. thanks much. board shopping when $ exists. (on most Inel boards, I do get beeps without KB and mouse)

Well how big is the power supply? Details, man. They are important.

Make sure that your motherboard doesn't have another location by the processor that you would plug a power lead into (usually a 2x2 if it has one).

This P4 Intel board is similar to others I have built. About a 350 w PS. No beeps at all tells me the mob is bad. (yes, board and video are quite often overlooked when powering up new) This was to be a backup/project machine running XP Pro and Ubuntu. My main machine is similar, that is where some of the spare parts are from.
