You hear that sound? That is my head slamming into my desk as I type this.
I bought my 08 V8 4runner May 2015. I had 31 days (yes 1 day after the warranty ran out) of 4runner bliss. then I had what turned out to be a clogged fuel sock. here is the info on that whole fiasco. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/202426-holy-dtc-code-hell-2008-limited.html
tank dropped, new fuel pump and sock. I'm still getting P420 P430.
Here is what we've tried so far.
1) the radio shack capacitor and resistor on the o2 sensor. didn't work.
2) adding a spark plug non-fouler. still in there and not working.
3) 3 gallons of lacquer in the gas tank. drove for 300 miles. worked great while the lacquer was in the tank. as soon as I filled up with lacquer free gas the CEL came back on after about 40 miles. :mad2:
4) changed out the o2 sensors with known working senors. didn't work.
My next step was going to be to use the URD o2 sensor simulator but now I am reading that is it basically the same thing as the radio shack fix but $145 more expensive.
the other option I know of is taking out the cat and hand cleaning it. but from what I hear removing the cats off an 08 4R is a PAIN. As in they are up in the engine and hard to get to without having to remove several other parts.
Help me sensei. Help me give birth to the beautiful 4R that I know and love.
