I don't seem to have this connector. does any body know the color codes for the wires on pins 6, 7 and 8?

that plug should be right behind your radio. it connects to your stock head unit

I've been told since I have an Urban runner with the Toyota tomtom unit there is a different wireing harness. Not sure why, but it is. I even had use the adapter from the tomtom and tap intoit to connect an Avic-Z120BT. I got it to work, but now I want my steering wheel controls back.

there is one connector that has 4 wires on it... I'm thinking these are the ones. I'm just not sure of the color codes.

Here's a pic I made up when helping another member. It was about the steering wheel buttons not illuminating but hopefully it'll help you out as well. The colors of the wires are as it shows in the upper left pic...

6: white w/ red trace
7: purple w/ white trace
8: yellow w/ black trace

A/V1 you Rock! This is what I need... Just hope they used the same color codes in the 4-pin connector. But from this I can see how the different resistance combos would be and use a meter to determin the correct pin.

Hey A/V1, am I reading your pic correctly? Pin 10 on the radio plug is for the combo SW LED's. If so, then I could assume the fourth wire in this connector would be that one? Haven't had a chance to pull it back apart yet, but I'll give it a try.

Who knows... I might even document it into a "How to".

Pin 10 on the radio plug is not used for the combination switch (steering wheel switches). That 10 you see there is actually ON C13 (the ribbon cable), for the Combination switch. The ground for the lamps (LEDs) is simply provided for through pin 6 at the radio plug, which is why we need to be sure to ground that wire when connecting the pac-(xx) adapters. I don't know what the fourth wire is for in your application, so I would download, check, & recheck the diagrams for your year/model to be 100% sure. Then of course verify with a meter.

Programmed my SWIPS thanks to karl_olsen last week. I experience no button lag but some others do...I think it has to do with either the quality of the connections or a mis-program. Take your time when doing it and you should have no problem.

Just wanted to say thank you. I was upgrading the head unit I installed 5 years ago in my 08 4Runner. I had installed the Pac steering wheel control unit when doing the original install. While doing the upgrade today, I had no memory whatsoever of which wires needed to go where into that unit and would have been completely screwed if it hadn't been for your diagram. Thank you very, very much.
