PAC SWI-X Install Help

I recently installed a JVC headunit in my 05 4R. I also purchased a PAC SWI-X so I could retain the steering wheel controls. However, I am having some troubles getting it to work. I followed the instructions online exactly - I hooked up pin 6 to ground, pin 7 to the SWI white wire, and pin 8 to a 150 ohm resistor and then to the SWI white wire. I complete the programming sequence, and then procede to test the unit out by pressing the buttons on the steering wheel. This does nothing and the LEDs flash (alternating - right then left) on the SWI-X. I think this means there is an error, but I'm not sure what I did wrong. Anyone else experience this?

TIA.

I emailed PAC tech support and here's the response I got, I guess there's an incompatibility issue with the newer JVC headunits. FYI if anybody else has similar problems.

The flashing of the LED does indicate that there was an error during the programming of the IR remote. Unfortunately we have notice this issues with the SWI-X and the newer JVC radios. The cause of this is due to the frequency pattern of the IR remote, which could mean the IR frequency is on the border line of what the SWI-X can actually read and store. As of now we have not found a fix for these issues. A couple things you can try or make sure of when programming is to have the radio turned off, no shop lights inside the vehicle and press and hold each button for a couple seconds during programming.
