Paint chip touch up?

We have a 2018 4Runner and got one of the side plastic fender flares chipped from some clumsy person's car door. What is the most efficient way to repair this? Should we take it to a pro? Or get some touch up paint and DIY? Does it need to have primer added first? What's a good DIY method? Thanks.

That’s a simple DIY. That’s a plastic piece so no rust worries. I would use a good liquid scratch remover like Quixx, to clean it up and soften the edges and then just use touch up paint.

You could just touch it up with Oem Touch-up paint, but since it being a brand new car, it would bother me alot.

Its actually at a good spot to get the entire thing repainted professionally at a body shop as there are edges for them to tape off. I would assume they would sand that area down and lay some paint on it. And then re-clear that entire fender fare. After that, it will look brand new again.

That sucks. I yelled at someone in the Home Depot parking lot for doing something similar WHILE I was sitting in my 4R. I may have dropped the F bomb a couple times and told him to respect other peoples property. Good luck getting it fixed up.

A pro will cost you an arm and leg. I fix some rock chips with doctor color chip DIY paint repair and it did a good job.

I’ve had decent success with Dr. Colorchip, too. But those chips may be on the edge which is more difficult and I struggled once getting Dr. Colorchip to hold well on a plastic mirror case. I think I’d ask for a bid from a body shop for this piece. I wouldn’t want them blending or getting into the fender. Just the plastic fender guard. I bet it’s not too crazy. Good luck.
