Paint Protection Film

Since I purchased my T4RT the top portion of film along the lower rocker panel has looked like it has white areas under the film. It's not coming off but looks like some type of contaminate discolored the stick side of the film. Since the vehicle color is red it shows up more than a lighter color. My questions is has anyone had this on their vehicle? Have you taken it back under warranty? What was the dealer remedy? Just want to have some information before I go down this road with the dealer.

I wonder too how long this stuff is under warranty for, I need to try and dig up that info. I have a corner on mine that is starting to come up just a tad. Haven't noticed any residue or discoloration yet. Why do I have the feeling we are out of luck though =)

Are you aboslutely certain it is under the film? I ask because the spotting looks the same as what you have on the plastic trim below it.

PPF is also pretty robust, maybe you could try some kind of RO polisher on that part?

Don't use a machine to polish it, you'll burn/mar the finish. Plexus plastic polish is what you want.

The stuff I sell is lifetime warranty if installed by a certified installer, otherwise it's 7years if installed by anyone else.

More than likely the stuff Toy put on there is 3M, but there are 4 or so different brands that are of similar quality.

Before you go to the dealer, check to see if it's peeling up, by sticking a toothpick or something along the edge.

The people who installed my 3M film said I could use a machine without damaging the film, and I have actually gone over it with my porter cable polisher and a pad containing liquid wax without issue..just to be safe though Ill be keeping my PC away from my PPF.

I should have washed the truck first before the picture. It was that way when it was delivered to me. I was told by the salesmen it was put on at Gulf States Toyota. It's on the adhesive side not the exterior side. It not coming up nor can it be pressed down. IMO Just looks like something was not quite right in the installation process.

Mine is peeling off just as yours is at the top. I figure I'd leave it for a while till it gets worse then try to get it replaced under warranty. I figure it does it's job as it is, and my truck isn't pretty so I'm going to leave it. You could just peel it off too, as there is the extra "orange peely" clear coat underneath as well.
