Painted Center Caps

Just painted my center caps. My ones I bought with my used 2000 t4r were faded so I decided to get new ones or paint them. As I am a student, it was the $60 choice or the $10 choice and obvioulsy I went with the $10.

I sand papered them, got kind of lazy so there were spots that weren't fully sandpapered.

I washed them with dish soap, got kind of lazy so they weren't entirely clean. But the painting surfaces appeared clean.

I then paitned them with 2 layers of paint of some spray paint, wheel type of paint. It was pretty good. I am terribly unartistic, so obviously they didn't turn out perfect.

There were some parts with more paint that others, but from around 2 feet away, they were hardly noticable. My biggest pet peeve was that paint built up around the points of the cap, so some parts of the cap had excess paint.

1 Of the caps turned out flawless, 1 turned out pretty good, 2 turned out decent but not anywhere near perfect (they had bumps adn stuff)

Overall, they turned out pretty good and I am satisfied.

I will post pictures tommorow when I am fully sobore adn when i'm not terrbile cold.

I did the caps on my '97 and literally filled the "T" with a red acrylic and then clear coated the whole cap and it held up pretty well after a year when I sold it.
I'll be doing the caps on my '99 when the weather warms back up.

Haha, its been freezy in San Francisco. But what does weather have to do with it?

I put them on. They don't look amazing, but they are pretty good. My masking tape got kind of screwed up so theres parts unpainted and parts painted. And some of the edges have a little extra paint. But from like 2 feet away, it looks good. It was a good experience so when I do it next time, I know what to expect haha.

Temps should be over 60F for painting and it's only been in the 20s here so it'll probably be another month before I'll do mine.
