Painting a Hood Deflector

I would like to purchase the low profile hood deflector (I believe it is also the Canadian version) and was wondering if anyone who has one already or has seen one that someone has painted to match the vehicle. I've never seen one first hand so I'm trying to get as much information about them as I can. I have a Galactic Gray 4R and my wife has a Shadow Mica 4R. I realize that it seems foolish to paint the Shadow Mica one with how dark the paint is already.

I just don't have experience with whether the material the hood deflector is made of makes it very difficult to paint or not. Who knows I may get it on and prefer to keep it the way it comes...black.

See if you can find one made in clear, and then you can paint it to match your paint on the inside. That's what I would do...

Wet sand it with 400 grit, wipe it down with some DuPont Final Kleen, spray it with BullDog Adhesion Promoter, The spray it with a couple coats of grey primer. Wet sand the surface of the primer with 400 again just to knock off any orange peel and to rough up the surface to help the paint adhere.

As for the paint, most autobody supply stores can mix you a matching color paint from DuPont. They can put it into an aerosol can just like krylon. Then you can spray it with a few coats of color, and spray it with a few coats of clear, all with automotive quality paints in a rattle can. It will look like it was made for your car's color when you're done.
