Painting Frame/Undercarriage?

Now that i have a 1.5" BL in, along with my suspension lift, you can see a lot of the frame and undercarriage.
And let's face it, our runners don't look to pretty under there. So I want to paint
the frame and undercarriage black. Has anyone done this before? Is it a good idea or bad one?

And if I do go ahead and paint it, are there any recommendations on what paint/primers I
should use? Or are there any paints I should stay away from?

I know there is a member on here that did something like that, but I searched and couldn't find them.

What kind of apperance are you looking for? I would personally reccomend an dedicated undercoating or truck bed liner as it will protect the undercarriage. It might not look as nice as smooth paint but it will help proctect the vehicle if you take it off-roading.

Since I live in the Rust belt, I was getting a lot of rust on the undercarriage, so I used Rust Bullet, then top coated with flat black RustOleum.

I use the 3M undercoating. Spay it every spring.

go to walmart and look in the automotive section. they have spray cans of rubber undercoating for about $4.00. do not use the "pro" grade, just buy the cheaper cans and go to town. i have done the entire underside of the truck and it holds up great.

Thats great, just what I'm looking for. I don't need it to be perfect, I just don't want that faded gray look. Should I avoid the diffs and t-case where the drain and fill plugs are? And also the oil drain plug? I don't want to paint those shut obviously...

just make sure the metal is somewhat clean before you start and have a wet rag handy incase you get some overspray some place you don't want it.
you can spray over the plugs and then wipe it off. i sprayed over mine then cleaned them off with the wet rag. even if you don't, it's not going to hurt anything. get yourself about 6-8 cans so you can do the fender wells also.
