Painting Lower Body

Anyone ever try something along the lines of painting along the lower body where the running boards and fender flares touch the body, and around the lower door area? This is where a little bit of rust is appearing, and I'd like some kind of solution other than a full body painting.

I'm considering POR-15ing the rusty parts of my under carriage that can be seen with running boards off, and keeping them off, and considering a beefier flare, which would actually allow sloppy rust painting under the flares in that case. That just leaves a solution to the lower door area, I guess.

well the japanese version the Surf has a twotone bady color looks good silver lower body and black upper I want to do this for mine when I can get the money

Neat. I'm quite sure I'm going to try this out next summer. Judging from the minor yet awful paint experience I had with a DIY on my CR-V, I'm going to carefully plan this one.
