Paintless Dent Removal...

Any cons to this? My 4Runner was hit pretty good by a recent hail storm along with my wife's new Pilot (with only 300 miles on it)... Curious if there's a down side to the PDR. Will post a few pics later... Any comments & recommendations appreciated... Thanks!

I have seen this done many times out here in Cali. I actually was able to take a hammer to a vehicle of the PDR guy at a car show and watched him pull the dent out. im no Babe Ruth but I can swing a hammer pretty good. Both the dent and fixing came out great. Ran into the guy a few years later with the same car, still good as new.
Cons......don't really know of any.

Not really a con. The PDR guy may need access from the inside, so depending on dent location, they will take apart a good portion of the interior to get access. On doors, many can remove the dent through the window channel.

I don't remember the name of the PDR company, but it's probably Dent Pro or Dent Wizard that did my friend's car. They drilled an access hole that was later plugged in the door to get get out a dent near the edge.

As long as the paint hasn't broken or been chipped PDR is a cheaper option for hail repairs. I'm an insurance adjuster so I see people all the time take my check for $3k and have their veh repaired PRD for 1500....that of course is after they refused to use PDR due to the lack in quality. Go figure.
Just make sure it's a reputible company doing the work. Some will even guarantee their work. Good luck!

I've had a few door and hood dings removed from my other vehicle (Mazda3) using PDR.

The guy did a pretty good job. One thing to note is in some cases they may not be able to completely remove the dent so there could be some slight waves in the metal when the dent is pulled.

In my case, I had a pretty deep door ding on my rear passenger side door. The guy was able to get out about 95% of the dent, but when the vehicle is washed and waxed you can still see a slight crease where the dent was (it's VERY slight and would only be seen if you knew what you were looking for).

All in all, it was a great investment for the $80 I spent.

i am a insurance appraiser and i use them alot. some shops get mad because they don't make a whole lot of money using them. they do alot for us especially for hail. i have yet to have a problem with them(we use dent wizard).

no they do great work. took three door dings out of my wifes accord and you cant even tell. one was even on a crease of the door, i was sure he wouldnt get that out. just wash the car first before he does anything. they scratched the paint up a bit cuz our car was dirty, but it wasnt anything a good wax job wouldnt take out!

Thank you! I just want my car back... I don't want to deal with the hassel more than anything but that's life. I'm wishing I didn't have a grand deductible on both but I chose to roll the dice assuming nothing would happen... certainly not to both on the same day. Pics to come when work settles a bit. I'll be sure to post before and after pics... one of the dings on the rear gate was big enough to crack the paint about 2-3".

Nothing wrong with paintless dent repair in my experience/opinion. I had serious hail damage on my 4runner 5year ago. Went to reputable body shop, 5 days and $5K later it come out great. My insurance took care of most of it and even rental car.
