T4R Member in So-Cal,
Trip(Saturday March 16th) all T4R's welcome-
After the last turn out to Azusa and talking to everyone and the responses I think this should be a good one for all to enjoy this next weekend (Saturday March 16th). The drive will be to Palomar Mountain. The route planned is up the back side(Nate Harrison Rd.) into the sate part. As of March 9th there was snow on the ground in parts of this drive (over 4,500 ft.) and still is according to the Ranger. There will be at least mud on this trail/unimproved road. If you do not have 4wheel drive you should be fine(I drove most of it in 2wd,just 4wd for a few spots because of the deeper snow and road conditions). We will not leave you behind!!!
The plan is to stop in the park and enjoy the Doane Pond area once we make it up. There are bathrooms and plenty of room to park so everyone can walk around and see the pond and meadow. Dogs are encouraged to come and can be in the park (Just note there is a leash rule in the state park). This is geared for everyone to enjoy.
The next stop will be Palomar Observatory/General Store (Time Dependent). At the general store there is a Small Cafe (Mother's Kitchen). We can have lunch and mingle, There is small items for sale for purchase and stuff if you need it.

The route back will be down Palomar Mountain Road (all paved and easy drive) and back to the Hwy 76 to the 15. Once at the 15 we can gas up there and head home. There are two casino's in this area for those that are wanting to enjoy that before heading out(Pala and Harrah's Rincon).
Fee's-
There is a day use fee of 8.00 to enter the park(you can use credit or atm but cash is best it is a small rangers station office). If you have an adventure pass you are good and no need.
Don't be the guy(brianemc2_42) that get the 71.00 donation fee for not paying this(ticket), and yes the Ranger lives in the camp area so they know.
Lunch- at Mother's Kitchen- Menu runs from 6-15 bucks for a meal on average from what I remember.

Gas- There are NO GAS STATIONS on the Mt. so fill up at the mobil station before we go up for the day.
