Pandora times out loading stations

Looked around and found a lot of issues but nothing recent or exact to this...does Pandora app work well for everyone or is this just a me problem?

Connected to iPhone 7 - latest iOS and Pandora updates...etc. Pandora works perfectly fine on iPhone...phone connects to 4runner with no issues via Bluetooth.

I bought a 16' 4Runnner Trail Premium about 3 weeks ago, Pandora app will load my stations and play only about 30% of time...most of the time it will not load stations, it will spin and say "Please wait" and after about 30 seconds it will time out and ask you to try again. I cannot get it to connect at all while in this state, it will take shutting the truck off, and letting it sit, eventually another trip I take will work..but I can't figure out the pattern of what makes this work or fail...it's extremely frustrating.

The Entune app is open and connected, all other apps working perfectly fine.

I have about 90 stations...is this the problem? Should I wipe out the majority of my Pandora stations and start over? Before I do something drastic, I wanted to find out what others experience is.

Also a side note - Scout GPS Link, I have the app, but that app will not connect and attempt to install to the Entune system, I've tried to remove the app and start over a number of times but it won't kick off - this is less of an issue - it's the Pandora App that I really care about

I was having problems just like this, but it has been working fine recently this past month. I think its the Etune app on the phone that causes issues. I've noticed behavior changes after updating the Etune app. I just switch to Slacker radio when Pandora isnt working.

I've been having plenty of issues with Pandora on the head unit too. I get a "tethering" issue but everything else works fine. I just listen to XM or play straight from the phone now...

Really irritating - my wife has a 14' GLI and it works perfectly - if this is really that crappy of a system then I guess I'll be looking at aftermarket options

Like others here, I too had issues with tethering, timing out, etc. Sometimes, I would have to swipe out the Etune app and reopen it up to two times before Pandora functioned properly. But like NoOneBetter experienced, Etune+Pandora have been working perfectly (knock on wood/fingers crossed) the last few weeks and I have no idea why. Sorry I can’t offer any suggestions for you. :noidea:

I don't have any experience with Pandora as I typically just stream from Google Play, iHeart radio or Slacker.

As far as the Scout GPS app goes it is not available for the Premium radio with built in Navigation, only the Entune Plus radios on the non Premium/Limited models.

Pandora is always spotty for me, but here are the three things I do in order whenever I get the "tether" or failure to connect errors:

1. turn off/on the bluetooth

2. go into entune, hit the "Disconnect" button, go into "Options" and select "Connect to Vehicle"

3. go into entune and if you get the App screen, select the Pandora App

Pandora works fine on my '12 SR5. Don't have entune. Android or apple devices all work perfectly, connecting with no issue.

I have the same issues, when I first got my 4runner all apps worked fine. As both my phone and entune have updated it rarely works. I heart Radio and Pandora have issues

I have tried to close the app and reconnect the app numerous times without any difference, I've also reset the stereo to no avail....
Next time this happens I'll test resetting my bluetooth connection on the phone

Funny thing, today it's working perfectly

Good to know I'm not the only one with problems, so I'll hold off clearing out my channel list for now

I thought I was having issues with Pandora as well until I realized my phone was still on Wi-Fi from my house. And signal was very week cause I'm park at a distance.

Drove further from the house until I'm off Wi-Fi, reconnect to Pandora and it works.

Maybe your phone was trying to connect to different hot spots?

I received my 2017 cement TRD pro three weeks ago and have had issues with my entune app. If I run straight Pandora off my Wi-Fi it will work perfectly fine but if I run it through my other app (entune)will say tether fail, so I will just run my Wi-Fi and my Pandora or Spotify and skip entune altogether. Honestly the apps on the radio really suck I can't even text message out but it will read it.

I personally hated having the Pandora &a other entune apps preset on my radio. Much easier to just scroll through AM/FM/XM and run Spotify, pandora, etc through my actual phone and via USB or Bluetooth. I removed them by getting rid of the entune app on my phone, deleting my entune account on Toyotas website, then doing a factory reset on the headunit.

I finally had a chance to test out a few things this week when the Pandora App on the Head Unit fails to load but all other Bluetooth features and apps working properly on the unit

These attempts fail to work:
1.) turn off and turn on head unit
2.) turn off and turn on 4Runner
3.) disconnecting and reconnecting the iPhone app
4.) Disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth

I found two ways to get this working again

1.) On iPhone double click home button and wipe out the entune app to completely shut it down then bring it back up - this works on either the first try or second try

2.) Turn off iPhone completely and restart it, this takes more time but works

This leads me to believe the issue is with the iPhone app itself vs the head unit, hopefully Toyota makes continuous updates to improve the app functionality

I ave a droid, Galaxy S& Edge, and when I get similar errors, I sign out of entune on my phone & sign back in. Then restart my truck and I'm good. Still, its a pain in the ass.
