Panic Braking Today

Am I the only one that loves this system? Sure, it scared the sh*t out of me took me by surprise the first time it activated because it felt like the truck was going to cartwheel, but it stopped ridiculously fast. As far as someone riding your a** when it activates, I hope you have a trailer ball and hitch in.

I think the system is brilliant. It has helped me a few times. Mind you, you need to learn how NOT to activate it inadvertently. Once I figured it out I have total confidence in it.

It saved me once but unfortunately for my rear bumper kid in Corolla behind could not match such breaking performance. It cost him over a grand for my minor repairs.

Old thread, but it happened to me yesterday. I thought it was because I've been driving different vehicles for a week and just hit the pedal too hard.

City street, ~35mph, guy approaches from a side street, pauses, then starts out right in front of me while looking the other direction. I instantly switch from gas to brake, but by the time I'm applying pressure the guy had looked my direction, seen me, and stopped. He then backed up a few feet even though he never got out in the road. I really didn't put much pressure on the brake, but the automatic system kicked in so my tires chirped and my wife was thrown forward against the seat belt.

When describing the situation later, my wife was all, "That @$$hole almost killed us!!!!!". I saw it as no big deal. A close call, but both drivers had seen the situation and took actions to avert a crash. We were never even close to hitting. "But you had to lock the brakes up!!!"
