Parents 4R was vandalized- need help fixing

I get a call from my parents that their 4Runner was vandalized. They live in a VERY rural area and neighbors are few and far between. Story goes, their 4R was mistaken for a gangsters that lives about a mile down the road (same gen/color). Whoever got ahold of it, pulled the front passenger wheel liner off and just ripped and cut at any wires they saw. I need help trying to figure out what all was damaged to be able to replace whats needed as the 4Runner is their only means of transportation outside my dads work truck.

Quick details:
2002, SR5, V6, RWD, Auto

Report it to the police (obviously) and claim it under their insurance? Would that raise you rate? Because that could take a lonnnnng time to figure out..
 
Yeah, obviously report it.

If it is just wires, sure you can take it to a shop and they should be able to pull the harnesses and components and replace them, but unless it is being paid for (without their premiums increasing), I would think you could just fix it all yourself.

Get a soldering iron, extra wire, a bunch of heat shrink tubing, and a heat gun (or maybe hair dryer). You should be able to fix all these since they are exposed. Be sure to heat shrink each individual wire, then use a bigger heat shrink over the whole bundle (since these are exposed.

On the pulled one's, figure out what they go to (either follow them, or look it up), and you will need to see if they pulled out of the other end, or got damaged elsewhere. they could have pulled out a terminal from a connector, or something like that. If they did, well then you will have to replace the connector or the component. You can also test this by just turning it on and checking that everything is functioning.

The robustness of all of these components has been compromised, but other than replacing everything, this is the best you can do.

Oh yeah, lastly, have it painted a different color.
 
Yes, it was reported to the sheriffs office but it took 2 days for a deputy to respond since it's in such a rural area of the county and no one died. Priority was low.
Insurance- They called their agent, they would have to pay the deductible (Read: High), and it would raise their rate.

Once would have figured that the various religious bumper stickers would have been a deterrent, but that wasn't the case

As soon as I can make sense of what is what, I plan to patch and splice non-critical wires, but I have a feeling the one thicker wire leading to the hub area is a sensor and that it would need replacing completely.

I just want to get the 4Runner back on the road, my mom is not in the best health right now and just go out of surgery and is currently recovering. Money is tight and worst case scenario, it's a 30 minute drive into town.
 
Looks like rodent damage to me.

If somebody wanted to vandalize a vehicle windows are a lot easier/quicker than removing a fender liner and pulling out random wires...
 
That totally sucks.

First and third picture is the truck side of the RH Front ABS sensor with the wire loom on it. The end they cut (pic 7,8) is the ABS Sensor wire that goes all the way to the hub. If you buy a RH Front ABS sensor it will you don't have to splice anything there. Just route it from the hub to the plug with the wire loom.

Picture 4 looks like a fog light or a turn signal harness being so low. The headlamp harness runs through engine compartment, I think..

Picture 2, 5, and 6 look like the power antenna wiring. On the left side of Pic#2 there are Pink wires. Just under that and to the left of them you can see a hole in the fender where a grommet should be. Were those blue and black wires should have gone thru to feed the power antenna motor power. As you can see in pic 5 and 6 they are the same color wires. That "Rouge" plug is what goes thru the grommet that those D.Bags. pulled out and pulled thru the square hole you see in the picture.

Check to see if the power antenna works?
I'm sure the ABS light is on also in the Cluster.
And if you have fog lights, is the pass side out? Or check
the turn signals. Turn key to on, turn signal stalk to each side and the pass side should flash faster then the drivers??

The ABS wire was cut clean, and the blue wire plastic coating was pulled (overstretched). You can see where they had a pry tool trying to get the clips out of the metal and some of the push pins are still stuck in metal. And frame rail by the brake line is all clean like someones sleeve was rubbing in it.

Must have been a bunch of kids.

Hmmmm, if you are correct, then it is still totally drivable, just without ABS. That is good news.
 
Like Nelsonmd said, if you are right cfranck1, you are my HERO. I priced the ABS sensor @ about $200 and all the other wiring I can patch up easily.

I would call a salvage yard close to you and see if they have the sensor. I bet they would sell you it cheap. I looked on car-part.com and there is a salvage yard near you that has a 2002 4x2 4runner.
