I replaced the rear pads and rotors on my 2013 @ 67K miles. I was confused at why I couldn't get the rotors off, but eventually figured out how to loosen the rear parking brake at the star adjustment. Once I had the new pads and rotors on i flicked the star adjusted "up" until it felt tight, then slightly loosened. Well now my parking brake doesn't hold like it used to. Can i just tighten the star adjuster more on both sides, or do I need to do the whole adjustment prodedure that involves removing the lower portion of the dash like in the FSM?

I tightened the star adjustment on both sides today and it seemed to help. I did noticed that I cannot rotate the rear hub by hand with the rear end jacked up. Is this normal or are the rear shoes too tight? To be able to see the star adjustment through the holes in the caliper, I had to rotate the tire on the other side. Just want to make sure I didn't over tighten the shoes. It doesn't seem like anything is dragging while driving.

Just to be sure since this is what it sounds like happened based on your first post:
You are disengaging the rear parking brake after you jack up your rear axle, right? If you had disengaged it before doing your rear brakes, then you wouldn't be in this situation in the first place. It would also explain why you aren't able to spin your wheels once jacked up.

The parking brake has been Off when doing the work. None of the 5th gen write ups or videos mentioned having to loosen the star adjustment to get the rotors off, but on mine I did. The rotors wouldn't come off even though the parking brake was off. I finally found a 4th gen write up that mentioned needed to loosen the star adjustment, which is how I finally got the rotors off.
I had the parking brake adjusted at the dealer earlier this year. I'm guessing that's why they were tighter than usual.

Bump. Can anybody shed some light on this? I jacked up the rear end again tonight and the tires are very hard to spin (ebrake off). Even tried it in neutral, but I guess that doesn't make a difference.
So I guess this means the parking break shoes are dragging on the rotor even when the parking brake is not engaged? Sounds like I need to loosen the star wheel until the hub spins freely, then adjust the parking brake cable?
