parking brake wiring for dvd player

How have folks wired their parking brake sensor wire for their indash dvd player?
And if you have used a switch...have you used just a simple single-pole / single-throw switch?
I know some have simply grounded out the wire, but this one needs a "routine" of steps prior to operating.
I would appreciate hearing folks input.

I know my Alpine IVA-200 has a e-brake -brake sequence to activate the DVD player.

There is a component (PAC TR-7) that can reproduce the sequence. I haven't purchased on yet, but I've read it can be programmed to reproduce multiple different sequences.

it depends on the headunit that you have... different companies use different solutions... alpine uses a momentary ground... some pioneers use a double pulse negative ground... and some just need to be grounded... some of the new higher end pioneer stuff takes some repinning of the harnesses behind the radio... like the AVIC Z! to bypass the GYRO... good luck

The dual has 2 different sequences....

If the parking brake is ON when you crank the car...

You turn it off for 1 second, on for 1 second, off for 1 second, and then on...

If the parking brake is not on when you turn the car on...

On for 1 second, off for 1 second, then back on.

This can be found in the manual, and if I remember right its on page 13.

If you have a Pioneer head unit the best spot on the net for info and info on bypass or hacking the HDD is at www.avic411.com. There are detailed instructions there by other users to bypass the e-brake safety feature. We are still working on a bypass for the Z2 unit, but there are some promising workarounds in process.
