parking break '84 issue

hey everyone. Im having a tough spot cleaning up my 84 to keep it chugging along. for a while when the parking brake (t-handle) was engaged the light on the dash would not come on, which wasnt a big deal. Id guess its a bulb or fuse.

at any rate, now when i drive the brake is off (yes i did check) and the light stays on. what do you suggest i do? im not a very good repairman so i need barney style directions

Then it's not a bulb or fuse.

First check the fluid level in the brake Master Cylinder (under the hood).
If the fluid level is OK, get under the dash and inspect the parking brake switch attached towards the end of the shaft.

fluid levels are ok. what does the switch look like?

also where is the sensor check? and what would that look like
