Parking my Runner for an extended period...

So we are moving up to Alaska for the summer. I am not bringing my Runner. It is going to end up sitting idle for at least 4 months. I wasn't going to do much besides disconnect the battery and leave about a 1/4 tank of ethanol FREE fuel in it. Would y'all do anything else?

I am tempted to sell it before we leave as I am on the verge anyway due to our growing family. Need a third row and more space.

I would cover it in a tarp, and if there's salt on your roads wash it off. Otherwise I would say you're fine. I just got back to mine after sitting for 4 months, removed the battery and that was it but the salt residue from Utah raped it a little.

I am in Florida and it will sit in my garage the entire time, thankfully.

Seems like you'd want to leave the fuel tank full, especially in your climate, to reduce the possibility of condensation and corrosion in the tank.
I've used gas that had been stored for 8 months in metal jerrycans in my 4Runner and it was fine.

It will be fine, i had a buddie who parked his car for 1.5 years while on deployment and when he came back had 1/8th of fuel in it. Started right up and ran which suprised us.

So i wouldnt worry about anything especially if its in a garage...maybe a hurricane

Maybe a pinch of SeaFoam in the gas tank just to be on the safe side. Enjoy Alaska, beautiful land out there.

4 months isn't that bad. I used to store one of my cars each winter and I did a bunch of things. If you do it regularly, you might find these ideas more beneficial than when just storing it once for that time period...

Pump tires to max psi and then park on small rug squares - reduces flat-spotting of tires.
Put a little vaseline around the door seals to prevent drying and sticking.
Put a piece of paper or cardboard under the wipers.
Add gas stabilizer, Mystery oil, and dry gas to the tank and then fill it.
Disconnect battery.
Scatter moth balls around the engine bay and under the vehicle to reduce animals making homes.
Wash it before covering.
Place a bag over the exhaust pipe and wrap it with a rubber band.

...that is all probably overkill, but I would be inclined to scatter some moth balls.
