Parking Sensors

I know that there are a slew of aftermarket parking sensors available - some with more functionality than the OE ones in the Limited....

But... has anyone installed the OE sensors into a TRD Pro?

I fully recognize that the job won't be easy or cheap with the wiring, but are the electronic bits there?

I bought a cheap kit off ebay, easy install if drilling the holes in the bumper doesn't scare you, before drilling - measure, look at it, measure again, etc.
Tap power from reverse bulb wire and anything easy nearby for a ground. I left the beeper module thing in the taillight cubby area so it's not so loud and annoying. Pretty straight forward install.

I wish the 4Runner came with parking sensors as well. I miss them after having an F150 for so long. I recall that Ford uses a rebranded sensor, but I can’t remember the brand. As others have said, tap the reverse light for power, and throw the beeper under the tail light cover. Probably a 2 hour job.

Actually, I don't need them for the back, but I'd like them for the front - or is there an easy camera install.

Built by a guy in this forum, it enables the rear camera anytime (not just in reverse), and the full kit includes a front camera and switch and all the cabling. Which you also can enable anytime. Good instructions too.

I’ve installed it and it works well. It helps when parking forward against a wall, and depending on how you aim it, crawling over obstacles.

PERFECT. I have only peripheral vision in one eye, so depth of field in some instances is an issue. While I've never (knock on wood) run into anything in my 45+ years of driving, I have passed up parking spaces and sometimes approached some situations with more caution than necessary - but I can always blame leaving lots of space on the evasive driving class that I took 30 years ago

While I've never (knock on wood) run into anything in my 45+ years of driving, I have passed up parking spaces and sometimes approached some situations with more caution than necessary - but I can always blame leaving lots of space on the evasive driving class that I took 30 years ago

My vehicles are pretty near opposite ends of the tech spectrum. My Audi has all of the bells and whistles, while my 4Runner has none. And I don't really miss the gadgetry when I drive my 4R... save for one thing. I do love the "bird's eye" camera view on my Audi. If you can't park with that thing... it's time to hang up your spurs. Anyway, that's why I added the Anytime Backup Camera. No, it's nowhere near as good as the Audi setup, but it's definitely a marked improvident over the stock system.

Sorry to hear about your medical condition. I was going to suggest practicing with cones but maybe that would not help you.
I normally just park way the 'eff out in the lots. I don't mind the walks. It means I can have another cheese burger later.

It is actually kind of interesting. Since I've had it from birth, I've adjusted (because I don't know any different) and have naturally come up with all sorts of workarounds - judging distances by what I know - the distance between the driver's side mirror and the garage door opening, backing into spots using the camera and I'm a great parallel parker - not by what I see, but what I've learned - turning in by the position of the passenger door and the back bumper and stuff like that.

But yes, parking far away from the maddening crowd is good. Doesn't work in parking garages though....

A front camera would certainly come in handy. I see that they have a version for the 2020 - where does it fit on 2020 with the front ACC sensor?

Totally off topic but my teen daughter is also missing her peripheral vision, both eyes, right side. Were you able to pass your driving test without issue? Do you have to wear prism glasses?

Is it possible to install an aftermarket r/f sensor kit and have the sonar sound be tied into my existing speakers? 2020 SR5P.
