Hello,

I have purchased a Parrot 3200ls Bluetooth adapter but am having a hard time trying to decide where to mount the control head in my 06 4runner, has anyone else mounted one and have pics of the location.

the control head is about 2x2 inches square and mount with Velcro tape. i am concerned with mounting on the plastic trim right of the climate controls do to the tape probably wont hold and leave sticky residue.


also where is the best place for the mic. i was thinking left side of the dash about quarter way up the pillar..

I have a JVC bluetooth unit. I tried it with the mic on the driver pillar but found that the wind noise made it impossible to be heard going 65mph or on a windy day. I should note I have weather tech rain guards which seems to make the wind noise worse.

Currently have the mic on the steering column, just behind the steering wheel. Attached it with velcro. It is still not ideal, but much improved from the pillar.

I want to try placing it on the cabin ceiling near the map lights but the cable is too short, looking for an extension.

I have my mic in this same location on my 05 Tacoma, same story, it was fine in winter before I was opening my window but now that summer is here (I hate running air conditioning) I have to close my window everytime I have a call.
Also, another thing to think of, my speaker is tucked under the dash just above my right leg. It's tucked under so it's nice and out of the way but at highway speeds there's too much road noise to hear the speaker (and that's with average street tires, not aggressive A/T's or MT's which would be worse). You'll probably want to try a spot or two before you settle on putting that somewhere.
I have that same Parrot system in my Taco, I like it. Our province is about to bring in distracted driving laws for cell phones etc. this year so I'm glad I have it.

Mine too. I've got the mic just behind the steering wheel mounted with double sided tape. According to the folks on the other end of the phone its a lot clearer than my eclipse that had the mic integrated in the head unit.

Thanks For the suggestions , i already ran my mic up the pillar, put it all the way to the top. Guess ill have to move it if it gets to much noise. The speaker issue with me shouldnt be a problem as it mutes all radio speakers and uses the front two for the parrot.

as for the location of the parrot itself i made a metal braket that slide into the parrot mount and then fits snugly between the dash and the gray trim piece that surrounds the radio and climate controls. Ill post a pic in a couple days when i get everything ran permanently.

ok here is a pic of what i finally decided to do. Works real well and the parrot is very sturdy. only other thing i might do is paint the bracket so it blends a little better with the dash.

Do you have any close-up pics of the bracket and how it mounts to the dash?

The bracket is just a some light gauge galvanized sheet metal found at the hardware store, Bent into a L shape the bottom part going under the dash is about 3/4 with a slight upwards bend and the end to help hold it. i cut the metal to the size of the parrot mount so it just slides right into the parrot just the same as the mount would. nothing special to hold it in place just a little pressure from the bracket. The bracket slides in and out fairly easy but holds up well to hard button pushes on the parrot.

overall im very pleased and it works better than i thought it would. Ill get out there and get a pic of just the bracket sometime
