Part number help (plastic clips for hood insulator)

Good last time I checked. Oil change coming in the next week or two, and I'll recheck then with a tire rotation.

I think the consensus on that is the '99 model year and up.

Not to be pedantic, but that's not an "insulator" for the hood. That's a fire blanket. These plastic "clips" are designed to melt and let the fire blanket drop and cover the engine to help suppress a fire should it arise under the hood.

Toyota specifically calls it "INSULATOR, HOOD" (PN 53341-35021 or 53341-35031) - Whether or not it is for heat, noise, or fire safety is a different story.

The hood insulator was added on in 99 and up. Not sure if you can add one to a 96-98 model if it doesn't have the right hood crossmember configuration or even the holes to put the clips into. Besides that, it's over $200 new.

Does anyone know if a dirty hood insulator could contribute to cabin smells? It's potentially seen a lot of different chemicals over the years, including krown.

My hood seals are really wavy and probably not sealing anymore, the thinking here is that smelly air from the engine bay (maybe from the hood insulator releasing odours as it heats up?) is escaping and then getting sucked into the cowl. It's certainly worse when the truck isn't moving.

Incidentally if anyone has part numbers for the front and rear hood seals it would be greatly appreciated, but maybe that should be a new post.
