partsgeek.com is a scam!

I ordered a part on their site, when I got the part, it wasn't the correct one, the description was wrong. I went through the process of submitting a support ticket, they responded telling me that I would need to cover the shipping back, and pay a restocking fee of 20%, in order to get the refund for the part and not even the shipping. I tried to explain that the part was incorrectly described and I was mislead into buying it but they won't admit their fault. I found the phone number by looking them up in the yellow pages, because its conveniently not listed on their site. I tried all three options in the automated system, 1 make a purchase, 2 if your card has declined, 3 anything else, each time I was on hold for 20 minutes and then the phone hung up. I finally went to my bank to see if I could dispute the charge, but because its not an unauthorized charge there is nothing they can do.

I also checked to see if there were any other people that had the same problem and I found thousands of reviews from others having the same problems with this company, what they are doing is illegal and fraudulent. They basically falsely describe their parts or send wrong or damaged parts to their customers, charge you for the shipping both ways but not before they charge the restocking fee, then never refund the money. Someone just needs to rip these guys a new one, preferably with the assistance of a hilift jack and or a winch.

Yep I've had a similar experience. They sent me the wrong item because what I ordered was out of stock so they sent me a cheaper version without letting me know or refunding me the difference in price. I had to pay shipping back to return it but I was at least able to get them to refund me $10 of the shipping. I still came out on the negative a few dollars.

I have found it to be wise to call and ask if the product is in stock before ordering. Lesson learned via Rock Auto.

Amazon has shipped me the wrong parts before, I asked for a refund or exchange and have always been satisfied with either choice.

Thanks for the advice I'll check into that tomorrow. The main thing is that Im riding on a makeshift bushing I made out of self sealing silicone on my rear upper link, that was the part I was waiting for and when it showed up and didn't fit, I was pretty pissed.

If you have an AMEX card, use it for purchases from possibly dodgy merchants. AMEX backs you up ahead of the merchant, in case of dispute.

Try calling the credit card company directly (number should be listed on the back of the card). Over the years I've had a few similar problems with a purchase, and Visa was always good about working with me. Worth a shot, nothing to lose.

OK I filed a complaint against parts geek llc through the Arizona attorney generals office on the basis of false advertisement and basically a failure to refund me for the transaction. I will probably notify parts geek that I've made a complaint to the attorney general, maybe I'll get lucky and they will give me the full refund.

What was the exact part that you ordered from? Im curious because I have a set of 4 rear LCA bushings ordered from them and I don't look forward to finding out that all $60 worth arent the right part. I did notice the restock fee and return shipping policy before I ordered.

Amazon would have been a better choice.

they were supposed to fit the upper and lower trailing arms, they fit only the lower.

so i got my letter back from the attorney general the other day and i just checked my bank and found the full refund. f*** yeah b****!

Bummer man. I second ordering from Amazon. I order all my parts for the runner and GTO from there.

They are not perfect however. My buddy ordered a water pump for his GTO from Amazon. He received Legos instead. He contacted Amazon and they overnighted the correct part to him and he got keep the Lego star wars order. Somewhere there was a very confused little boy trying to figure out what kind of Legos his parents ordered him.

No company is ever going to get it right 100% of the time, but what separates the good ones from the bad ones is how they treat you after they screw up. I've been buying from Amazon for years, and they've messed up a couple times but always been fantastic about making it right. That's the way you keep customers.
I have never purchased from partsgeek, and after reading this thread I doubt I ever will. Word of mouth is a powerful thing - good and bad.

I have used partsgeek in the past with good results. However, in recent years, I signed up for AmazonPrime and use them for almost everything. I rarely see a better price anywhere else and I always check. The only exceptions are things somebody makes, like Wheeler's rack bushing kit or Marlin Crawler's shift seat bushings. MC also beat Amazon's price on my Aisin clutch slave cylinder.
