partsgeek.com is a scam!

to be clear the only reason i bought the part through them is because it was the only place that was selling it. the fact is the bushings in the rear upper control arms were never a user replaceable part. they dont even makr aftermarket bushings for the 4runner. however i did end up finding a place that made them after scouring the internet, they are labelled as hilux surf rear trailing arm bushing and are made by an australian company. the shipping is 8-12 weeks.

No company is ever going to get it right 100% of the time, but what separates the good ones from the bad ones is how they treat you after they screw up. I've been buying from Amazon for years, and they've messed up a couple times but always been fantastic about making it right. That's the way you keep customers.
I have never purchased from partsgeek, and after reading this thread I doubt I ever will. Word of mouth is a powerful thing - good and bad.

Exactly what he ^^^ said.

This is why I urge people to stick to ebay and amazon. The one time I had a problem on ebay was when the person wasn't complying, called ebay support snd they froze his account until I got refunded. Very understanding and professional. Plus I'm always able to find OEM parts on ebay for cheap. As for amazon, whenever I bought something I just didn't like or if I made a mistake I got a prepaid shipping return label, no questions asked. How about that for fantastic business? Stick to these two sites and you'll be golden.

Well I guess I'll continue to get lucky. I just bought my 13th grille from them. This one was packed way better than the previous ones, maybe they're stepping their game up?

Like said above, there will be problems with every company. But until I have a problem with them, I'll continue to use them I guess.

A couple weeks ago I ordered a upper control arm for my Dodge Ram. I keep waiting for a shipping/tracking number. After 4-5 days I contacted them via email since I had trouble finding a phone number. That same day I started researching them(looked on BBB website amoung other places) and was concerned about their service. That same afternoon I got a tracking number via email and when I got home the part had arrived. I should have researched them before I ordered. I feel I got lucky and I had no intentions of buying from them again.

If they didn't send you the right part it was an unauthorized charge. Call your Credit Card and tell them it was unauthorized. They will send you paperwork asking you to verify it was unauthorized. Meanwhile the CC will contact the merchant and open a case with them. You can decide not to return the paperwork to your credit card if you're not comfortable. But I say go ahead an open a case and put the ball back in parksgeek court. That will get their attention. Unfortunately, you have to play a game now. You did not authorize the purchase of the part they sent.

As others have said Amazon rocks and have been very accommodating when I need to return anything for any reason.

I wanted to chime in as well. Parts Geek is a terrible company. Avoid them at all costs. I ordered some new struts, mounts, and bushings 1.5 months ago and i got the bushings but haven't received the struts and mounts. The tracking number they gave me for the struts was the same as the tracking for the bushings. I've been emailing (they don't have a phone number so good luck calling) every week and I get the same response "We're checking with the warehouse and will let you know when we hear something". I feel like I've been cheated cause they kept my money for the $250 struts and mounts but sent the $4 bushings.

Funny thing is I decided it was time to stop spending all my money at Amazon and give some of the "little guys" a chance. Boy did I learn my lesson. I've asked for a refund as well as disputing the charge with my Discover card. Nothing yet...but I wanted to caution anyone else who might order from them as well.

I have found it to be wise to call and ask if the product is in stock before ordering. Lesson learned via Rock Auto.

Amazon has shipped me the wrong parts before, I asked for a refund or exchange and have always been satisfied with either choice.

I used to buy a lot of stuff from Rock Auto. Then I ordered brake pads for a Ford Ranger. When I opened the box I found brake pads for something, but not even close to fitting a Ranger. They looked like they might fit a big truck or bus. Double checked my order to make sure I hadn't made a mistake then called about exchanging them. They informed me I'd have to pay return shipping even though it obviously wasn't my mistake. I tossed the parts and haven't bought anything from them since. I've had a few returns to Amazon and they've been great about it.

If you have an AMEX card, use it for purchases from possibly dodgy merchants. AMEX backs you up ahead of the merchant, in case of dispute.

The few times i've had issues either via whatever purchase, amex has taken care of it 100% in my favor. No need to bbb or attn gen, you can but will take much longer. Luck. :cowboy:
