PARTZNET and Your Dealer

OK.....so I decide that I want the all weather floor mats and the hood protector. Dealer wants $99 and $107. Partznet lists the floor mats for $69 and the hood protector for $80. So, I call the dealership's parts department and ask them if they'll match the prices. The parts dept. says "let me check our cost", gets back on the phone and says "sure, we'll match the prices". So, my point is.........why order on line when your dealership will probably match the price and you don't pay shipping charges on top of that????? I saved $33 in shipping by going to the dealer vs. Partznet. I'm taking this approach from now on. I wish I would have known this before I bought my Homelink from Partznet.

It works well "if" your dealer will do that. I've tried and mine will not.

interesting......my dealer sold me the all weather floor mats for $69. i guess it depends on the dealer. seems like they charge however much they want, and the suckers get bit. well now we all know to watch out for the stealers. thats for that fact zvachalek!

Bottomline with me is offer your best price. I am not a professional haggler, and I will not spend my day running around shaving a few cents here and there. Same with buying a car, dealer has one shot at his best price. Play games, I'm gone.

I will support a brick and mortar if they have treated me well in the past and offer a competetive price. It doesn't have to be the cheapest.

Shipping is usually negligible for me, plus being in NC, not many brick and mortar suppliers to choose from, so therefore, I do not pay tax on online orders. So tax sometimes equals the shipping cost.

example: I found the HVAC filters online for ~$18 each. When I was in the dealer having an oil change they wanted $36 each. I told him I would pay $18, ok he said.

That really simmered me, why not just offer me the filter at $20 and there would be no need to haggle. It just proves to me the dealer is hosing anybody on anything they can. I don't like that approach to business.

I agree and you just gave your double secret away. I only made one call to a high volume dealer, so the savings equated to 6.5 quarts of Mobil 1 and a filter. Seemed worth it to me. I decided to do the HEPA HVAC filter mod for the in cabin filter which works out to $4 filter.
