The driver's seat on my 06 is fine, but the passenger foot well never had enough room for me to straighten out my feet. It was really uncomfortable to sit there when my wife drove. The plastic shield at the top of the foot well was just too close to the floor. I figured that I would pull the plastic cover off the top of the foot well and see if I could find some extra space up behind it.
Pulled it off and found the the 4wd controller and the tire pressure sensor box mounted on the right side of the shield, and a blower motor protruding down near the center. Removed the two controllers from the plastic shield, wrapped them in foam and duct tape and shoved them up into the top of the foot well, then cut off about 3" of the plastic shield along the front side, about 2/3 of the way from left to right.
After screwing it back on, I am now able to put my toes up behind the plastic shield... much improved. No more twisting my feet sideways!
