Passenger seat "stutter" when adjusting

The passenger seat on my TE stutters(*) a bit when I adjust it back and forth with no one sitting in it. I tested a floor model TE today at the dealer and it is smooth as can be with no one sitting in it.

Does anyone know if you can adjust or fiddle with the rail or mechanism below the seat to tighten things up?

(*)"Stutters is the only word I could think of, but what I mean is the seat hesitates a little and jumps a bit when going back and forth. It is not a smooth movement.

i dont have any solutions, but mine does the same thing, and I have an LE. I'd be curious to know if there is a fix, otherwise I'm adding it to my list of things for the dealers to check out (haze on headlamps, crunching lumbar support).
 
Mine pass. seat does the same thing on my Limited. It's when it's about 3/4 of the way back and if I leave it in that spot the seat will feel loose.

It's not something I worry too much about though. My drivers seat on my 4th Gen did it too at a certain spot.

Not sure about it feeling loose but mine stutters too. I was thinking maybe I just had some gunk in the teeth of the seat rails.
 
I guess it makes me feel better that it's not just me. I thought maybe I just had a bum seat when the one at the dealer was perfect. If it's happening to others then I am more inclined to say "It is what it is".
 
Both mine do it and 5 runners on the lot do it also. Service manager also said that "several" pepole had voiced their concern with the seats doing the shudder.
 
My passenger seat has the same shudder, and I conclude this is what makes that seat squeak when someone sits there. I plan to bring it in to the dealer soon to get it checked out.
 
Dealer checked both driver and passenger seats this morning and found the track rails were defective. Will be replaced next week under my extended warranty.

Just took mine to the dealership for this and all they did was loosen/unscrew the seat from the cab and it removed the "stutter". The techs explanation was that the seat frames get twisted from the body flexing. Kinda makes sense but it a little disturbing that the metal in our seats is that soft that it flex's. He wants me to bring it back next time the warranty manager comes (once a month he visits sites with warranty related issues) to see if it's something that would be replaced. Not sure they will replace them though since loosening the seat and retorqing it back fixed the majority of the stutter.
 
mine does it too. they "greased the seat rails" (which is code for "got grease all over the cool Husky floor mat you have in the back seat"). this really did nothing, and I'll probably print this out and bring it in next time and try to get the rails replaced.

Yes, both driver and passenger rails were replaced. Surprisingly I only needed to tell them about the issue once. The tech checked the seats and confirmed the stutter right after I told him. He saw that I have an extended warranty on my service account and didn't even need the warranty manager to approve the replacement. One week later the parts arrived, seats were removed and new rails installed, a zero point calibration was performed (to ensure the air bag sensors on the front seats are operational and correct due to removing and reinstalling them), and both seats have been stutter free since and no longer squeak while sitting in them.

Because I drive a lot I purchased an extended warranty, without that I would have been out almost $1600 for the work.

Interesting. I have noticed the shudder/rough spot on the passenger side. I don’t think it’s loose but there is a rough spot. So far it doesn’t bother me because I don’t move it a lot but it is there. Not sure it’s worth it to me yet to let the dealer pull it apart. Something to monitor. Appreciate you bringing it up.

Edit - now 6 months later my passenger seat seems loose in the tracks. I’m basing this on excessive shaking over bumps. Even bumping it with my fist gets is shaking and rattling pretty bad. Looser than my driver seat for comparison. I am hoping my dealer will consider the rails/tracks.
