Passenger side valve cover

It's 10 degrees F. I had to take the passenger side valve cover off to change the PCV grommet and hose. Now I'm wrestling with it to put it back on.
I'm having a bit of trouble getting it far enough forward. I think it may just be that it's cold and things are not being agreeable. It's supposed to be above freezing this weekend. Any advise needed or just mess with it? There are blue silicone gaskets that appear to be pliable and in good shape with no previous leaks with glue in the 4 corners at the cam humps.

put 'it" what back on , the grommet ? the cover ?

Been known to boil grommets and like gaskets in order to get them pliable to fit something.

If your COVER wont locate forward, why cant you just place it straight down where the bolt holes align (use a locater like a pen or something, need be)

and hammer it down with a soft mallet , etc ?

You are headed in the right direction; with proper gaskets, and those blue felpro should qualify, that you only should use sealer at the crevices such as corners of the cam towers, the flat and straight sections do well going on clean and dry

One obstruction seems to be a semi-brittle wiring harness and the second is the back of the timing belt cover. I think I'm going to try to wedge the wiring harness up and the back of the timing cover forward tonight or tomorrow when it's a bit warmer than last night. I have a 500 watt work light or two that I shine on things to warm them up in place. I don't want to have to do this twice due to oil leaks with the gasket pinched off somewhere since this side is all covered up by the intake plenum.

Well the warmer weather helped. The valve cover went back on. I did notice that even with all the bolts started, the last one still didn't line up very well and needed extra effort.
