I may be starting this prematurely since I've had my 2014 TEP since July 2014 and it is still bone stock.

The main purpose for this thread at the moment is that I would like a place to share my late April road trip from Houston to New Mexico and southern Colorado. Total travel time is 11-12 days. The route is below.



I was wanting input for nice/easy trails with the best scenery that I can enjoy with my parents near this route. I'm ok pushing the stock 4runner but my mom is scared enough just driving through mountains so a "challenging" trail may give her a heart attack. I've done some research online but wanted some direct input from some of y'all. I will take many pictures to document and share the trip.

If you get up closer to Canon City, CO Phantom Canyon is a decent scenic drive. It is just a dirty road, but lots of scenery.

Check out traildamage.com. there's tons of trails in southern CO.

traildamage.com is my main resource so far. I was browsing it last week and got a few ideas.

Purchased GoPro Hero4 Black

Purchased a GoPro Hero4 Black this evening. I have been playing with it a little bit inside and it seems the 1080P at 60Hz is really good enough. I went with the black instead of silver because I will also be using this on my motorcycle and I think 120Hz will be better at high speeds.

For those of you using GoPro, what version do you have and at what setting do you normally record for trails? What setting is "good enough" while conserving battery and MicroSD space?
 
Made it to Colorado

Finally made it to Colorado. First day we drive from Houston to Santa Fe, NM. Left Santa Fe around 11 am and arrived in Durango at 5:30 pm. Plan to hit up a few easy trails over the next couple of days in the Durango/Silverton area before heading to Glenwood Springs.




 
Silverton/Ouray

Made a little trip from our cabin about 20 miles south of Silverton, through Silverton and on into Ouray. Went down a couple of trails that are in some Gopro footage. I will make a video once the trip is over.

Still in the Durango/Silverton area. Tried going down Lime Creek Road. Trail was completely snowed in about a mile in.

Can someone please confirm whether the pics can be viewed or not? When I view the thread, none of the pics show up except for one.

Most likely as other pics I could see yesterday weren't available today.
All are working now.

You could easily spend 2 weeks in the area you are in driving the most amazing trails. I absolutely love that area and really need to get back down there someday. Haven't been since 2001.

Agreed, there are countless trails out here. Most of which I am forced to pass up since my mom is in the car most of the time and freaks out any time we leave pavement. Definitely making another trip out here once I get some decent tires and lift. Leaving mom in Houston! Or dropping her off at a resort while the boys go play.
 
Made our way from the Durango area to Glenwood Springs. Due to the weather, we were forced to take an alternate route and head west, then north through Gateway. Considered Moab but figured that may not be as interesting if we are just passing through. Glad we stayed in Colorado. The road through the canyons there is beyond beautiful. Unfortunately didn't get any GoPro footage during this leg of the trip. Today I will be going through some trails around Glenwood Springs.

Icon Stage 2 W/ Tubular UCA

Well this past week in Colorado has finally convinced me to pull the trigger and buy the ICON Stage 2 system w/ tubular UCA's. I'll probably be heading back to southern and western Colorado, Utah, and Arizona this summer so I want to be prepared. Now the wait...
 
McFaddin Beach

Took a drive out to McFaddin Beach a couple of weeks ago. It's actually a really nice beach compared to Galveston or Crystal Beach and it's extremely secluded.

Sedona, Moab, Southern Colorado

Planning a trip to Sedona and Moab 5/27 - 6/2. I will be with my parents so there will be limited wheeling but if anybody will be in the area during that time it would be cool to meet up and hit some mild trails.
