Yes...this is a play on the movie "Pay it Forward", but rather "Pay it Forwood".
It was two years ago, late arrival to camp (dispersed, backwoods, national forest, primative campsite), cold, dark, hungry kids...I swear the beautiful stack of dry wood stashed under a pine tree next to the rock fire ring was a memorable sight. Right there, waiting for me, left for me by a stranger, but a friend on the trails...it was awesome.
That day "Karma Wood" was born, and every camping trip since, I make sure to cut a nice stack of logs and collect a good pile of small kindling. I leave it nicely stacked and placed near the fire ring before I leave. My gift to my fellow campers.
Last weekend's trip was with some friends of ours who after seeing what I was doing, coined the phrase "pay it forwood" I thought it was clever enough that it was time to share this idea on the forums I frequent. (Note: I realize I am a dork, but I don't care)
If you are ever in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and you arrive to a dispersed primative campsite to a nice stack of wood...please pay it forwood.
Now if people will just stop busting their glass bottles around the camp...
