Paying 3.15 for gas, what do YOU pay?

In the Richmond, VA area (suburban counties), unleaded regular is running $2.85 per gallon. Add about fifteen cents for premium.
It was almost $3 per gallon recently, then dropped as low as $2.83 and is now on the way back up once again.

Diesel fuel is the killer right now - $3.15 to $3.25 per gallon - and it cost my boss almost $600 for me to fill the tanks on one of our big rigs. Yikes!

I went up to Northstar-at-Tahoe this weekend & averaged - 21.3 MPG.

Fuel Prices
Prices in the Richmond, VA market:
Unleaded 87 = $3.51
Unleaded 89 = $3.64
Unleaded 93 = $3.74
On-Road Diesel = $4.15

We recently switched to "summer blend" fuels, which is partially to blame for the recent price increases. Our region's gasoline has been a 10% mixture with ethanol (known chemically as E10 - 90 percent gasoline & 10 percent ethanol). It burns cleaner but causes a slight reduction in fuel economy because ethanol has a somewhat lower BTU content than does gasoline.
When it costs almost $35 to fill up a Sentra, you know that gasoline prices are too high! Even with costly fuel, however, traffic congestion is not any better, nobody seems to be car-pooling and our roads are clogged with people going nowhere fast. (My '08 Mustang GT is now going to be sitting for a bit, I suppose.)

With world demand for oil increasing and no exploration of available domestic sources, what else will happen? Prices will continue upward and we'll keep paying whatever they charge us. Factor in the falling dollar and things don't look good.
In the very long term, it is possible that we may end up doing okay. When the oil fields of the OPECkers start to suck wind, the USA, Canada, Mexico and Russia are going to be the ones with the largest oil reserves.
