The point is that we're obsessed with not offending ANYONE to the point we're changing up our language and society.
There are male gender roles and the beta males should just accept it.
It's not an obsession, it was a simple and minor change to how a very few words are used in state matters.
Think about what would happen if gender based language was used in traditionally female jobs. What if elementary school instructors were called teacherwomen or medical professionals were called nursewomen? Make practitioners wouldn't stand for it. Heck, many organizations don't use the word midwife anymore.
If the action tries to redefine things in terms that are incorrect, I have a problem with it. If the language ends up being more accurate for the change, I'm not going to get worked up over it.
Emasculating the word doesn't in any way emasculate the practitioner. If someone thinks it does, they have some insecurities to deal with. Whining about fisher versus fisherman, to me, seems more emasculating than the word change.

You missed the point. Like LandCruiser said above, it is a sign of idiocy in our society right now. We waste so much time (and taxpayer's $$$) on BS like this when we could be doing something more useful. This egg shell mentality is stupid. What will it lead to?
Would you like for your son or daughter to start reading about handsome Prince riding to the castle to fight the dragon and rescue another Prince in distress? Or how about a Princess kissing a frog who turns into another Princess and they live happily ever after?
It is coming. Because we can't leave anyone out and can't offend anyone, there soon maybe textbooks being re-written to account for everyone's preferences.

Many organizations no longer use Midwife as a matter of systematic and consistent policy. Now, I'm not shocked that Texas hospitals have been slow to change names that reinforce traditional gender roles. Actually, I'm surprised that they haven't held a special session of the state government to defend such language while attaching a bill banning sharia law.
Your Prince analogy is misplaced. It has nothing to do with the matter at hand. Furthermore, throwing in future boogie men (or boogie persons in this case) that haven't come to fruition seems little more than a scare tactic. It also points to the like source of the ire here and that is perceptions about and dislike of certain political dispositions. I think this thing is being blown out of proportion so some people can get on their soapbox and make broader indictments of people and ideas they don't like.
