Ive done lots of work on my 96 the last few months.
Lift , springs / shocks , valve cover gaskets , new radiator , wires & plugs , Mobile1 oil , transmission flush etc basically top to bottom maintenance...well so I thought.
I forgot a simple part replacement hmm yes the PCV valve :)
I put new one in a couple days ago and result is WOW!!.
The Engine & transmission gear change-kick down is so smooth with gas millage greatly greatly improved.

Glad you posted this. So, I have a question. If your PCV shows no sign of leaking and it rattles nicely when you shake it, is there any reason to replace it?

I have never known any auto to have such a dramatic change after installing a new PCV valve but hey, there is a first for everything.

+1 to that.
placebo effect maybe?
I thought that might be the case until I let my brother drive it.
He used it for the day unaware maintenance was done and was blown away with performance improvement.

Some of what we were feeling before valve replacement.
For the last year are so on cold start tack down was pretty ruff with mild vibration then settled down smoothed out.
I hit road experiencing hesitant 3rd gear engage with engine roaring high rpm before kick.
From that point 3rd gear smoothed out but shifting & engine acceleration had bog feel louder then it should of been.

That depends on how old it is.
If valves 35,000 - 40,000 miles old replacement is recommended.
So heck if yours has lets say 20,000 miles its well worth picking up a new one at Advance Auto for 4 bucs
