Pearl's mod/build LT rear/DK +3.5 LT/Custom Baja Bumper/Thorley Headers/Manual T-case

Here is the diff from ECGS. They were stellar as usual. At 62 yrs old with bad shoulders from surfing and construction work, I opted for the old man diff tool.

Gettin Greasy

After getting the rear diff buttoned up, I still had to change a cv boot on the DK +3.5 axle. It was torn when I was romping around in some saw grass. You'd be surprised how tough that shit is.

Hydro Bumps schrader valve

LT suspension has very tight packaging on these Toyotas. When removing the CV axle, I had to let the pressure out of the bump stop (yellow arrow) so the inner cup would slide out. The only other option was to release both shocks lower mounts and that is a PIA.

Schrader Valve Extensions

The caveat of this method is getting a no loss chuck to fit tightly on the Schrader valve with the lack of clearance. Removing the bump stop is not an option either, so these Schrader valve extensions that I upgraded to 300 psi valves, were my solution to get the nitrogen charge back up to pressure.

Decided to tie the shock towers together w an 1.5" DOM crossover tube.
I want it to to be removable so I found some weldable clamps that will fit over the bypass hoops.
Took awhile to calculate the bends, but I measured a few dozen times and got it real close.

All fastened up and painted. I can feel the difference in body roll. Long Travel is a challenge to drive with no ASB, this negates a lot of that.

Just flew to Ohio yesterday. Got to work and discovered Dana is the sponsor for the LPGA Golf tournament I'm doing this week. Pretty cool.

Older Sister 1UZ. One of these Lexus LS400 Junk yard engines (Toyota didn't have a production V8 truck engine yet) modified by TRD, won Ivan a Baja 500 its first time out in 97'.
Picked it up cheap. Crank spins by hand and it has the thicker 1st gen early 90s rods.
Maybe a T100 project one day. Quite a few of those trucks for sale in Florida right now.
My Son wants to do a Blown 86 of course. LOTS of reading in my future. But the UZ community is pretty cool with their knowledge, which will help a lot cause I don't know shit.

I never addressed the intake being exposed to water in the fender. The liners I installed were above the intake, so it was wide open. 13 inches of rain fell in a week right after the 4th, and after several good size puddles, I found water in the CAI. Close one.....
Hopefully remedied that issue yesterday.

Back when I installed the fiberglass, I copied these liners from a guy named Sam LTDSC on here, who had come up with the idea years ago. They are 18 wheeler mud flaps, which I thought was a good choice. Cheap and easy to cut.
But, as you can see the intake is wide open to the fender well. No Bueno..

So I pulled the liner down last night, and installed a snorkel like this

Tacoma You Tube video.

I didn't even have to use any Zip Ties after I cut the liner up nice and snug.

I bought my Corbeau seats very well used out of an old Fox body. Foam's holding up, but the cloth is dead and the drivers side bolster has a good size hole in it and flaking the foam all over the truck.

So I was looking around the web and stumbled on Corbeau's discount page.
I took a chance on a new drivers side A4 black cloth, but with a shaved base. The street track guys do this to gain helmet clearance for the roof and a cage. I bought it for $350 and free ship so it was worth a shot. Well I test drove it for a few hundred miles, and it was cutting off the circulation in my legs.

So I pulled the old full size foam outta the old seat and replaced it in the new cloth, which was still cut to the full size dimensions. Fit pretty good, so I'm back to a brand new A4, just with some ancient bottom foam lol.

Old vs New in the bottom pic.

We'll see how it holds up....

Tensioner pulley and the idler pulley started screaming Thanksgiving weekend. So I took advantage of the Toyota BF and bought a new PS pump because I was going to have to pull it loose for the tensioner bracket anyway. I also ran the PS cooler lines through the old transmission cooler. Replaced the V belt also.

For whatever reason with the current Fuel and Intake set up, the fuel trims with non-ethanol really loves these temps. Summer time I have to lean it out because the air down here is so hot and humid. It helps, but that time of year the air is so inconsistent in density, the readings can be all over the place.
