Pelfreybilt Installation and Winch Questions

Hoping to get some feedback from current Pelfreybilt owners. About to order my bumper and wanted to see if there are any "Gotchas" or install hints that I need to be aware of when it comes to putting this thing in.

Also, I believe that most winches will require a solenoid relocation kit due to space limitations. Can I get a consensus of what people are using and where they are relocating the control pack? Thanks for all the help

I found mine to be pretty straight forward, also my solenoid fit fine in standard spot (M8000-S)...I could see a larger winch needing a relo though.

My pelfrey didn't really need or want to get any adjustments either - just went where it fit the best.

I just installed my Pelfreybilt bumper with a Warn 10-s Platinum. I ended up having to order the long relocation kit, per Satin's recommendation. Make sure you get the correct kit for your specific winch - 4whl parts sent the wrong one for me- even after selling me the winch.

Per Michael at Pelfreybilt, they try to relocate the control box up under the hood. I'm still waiting for the correct kit, and my truck is going in for the suspension/alignment tomorrow, so maybe I'll take a better look at this next week (after Labor Day). Hoping I can find room on the passenger side - but I really want to keep my aux battery location (Off Grid kit) and relocate my washer bottle, since the bumper and fender liner trimming leaves it rather exposed. I keep thinking there will be room for my on-board air system where my spare currently is once I get my Schrockworks rear bumper/tire carrier.
 
The installation was pretty straightforward on mine as well. Using a Smittybuilt 9.5k winch and the solenoid mounted on top of the winch but I had to angle it to be able to get the plug in easily.
 
You don't need a relocation kit. The power steering tube easily bends out of the way. I have a Warn Xeon 10S and it fit no problem. I love this bumper.

This is exactly the info I was looking for! Thanks so much. I was originally going to go for the Zeon series winches but I don't have space for a solenoid relocation. Also the M8000-S seems to be 30% lighter than a 10-S which is nice. Don't need the fancy stuff anyways.

Quick question the Baja fogs you are running. Are they too bright to be run on the road with oncoming traffic? I'm going for the S8 in the center but wanted a set of fogs that could be used during normal driving.

Yup, I've seen people bend that tube before. Trying to leave things stock where I can though. Your rig looks money btw!

Sadly I feel all LED fogs are too bright to run constantly, I run my S8 backlight but leave fogs off.
 
Installation was very straightforward with a Zeon 10-s, no relocation required. I just loosened the power steering line bracket and pushed it up slightly and it fit fine. I attached the synthetic line to the drum before mounting the winch on the bumper as there was more room to work.

I think the most time consuming part was trimming the fender liner so it looked good and was secure. I'll probably diddle with the alignment of the bumper some time in the spring. I think i can even it up a little bit more.

Agreed, it was the last step for the reasons stated above. By-the-way, you definitely want to pin the line to the drum on the winch before you attach the bumper. For clarification: (1) Mount the winch in the bumper, (2) Pin the synthetic line to the drum and let it hang out the fairlead, (3) mount the bumper, (4) spool the line.
