What amazes me is that some here are still falling for the smoke and mirrors. Even after all this. They still think there was some magic to this bumper cover. LOL

They were good at one thing and one thing only. Marketing, pictures, drawings, and use of pawns (AKA, smoke and mirrors). Some here seem to continue to be impacted by the propaganda.

They got people.. learn from it and don't make the same mistake again. It really sucks what they did, but it is just money in the end. It can be replaced with more hard work.

social media is to blame, being from the lowered car scene if your shop has a good presence on IG then you are magical or something. But you're right it's all smoke and mirrors. They pull in customers that has a high following and it just builds on the mystique.

Perhaps and if that was the case (IF) then they should have planned it better. Charge $3,800 for it if that is what will keep the lights on and production going. What you don't do is set a price on a product and not follow through on it, file for bankruptcy and leave everyone hanging. No matter the circumstance it was a gross mishandling of money and it could possibly be criminal.

How's that? Even if you priced out the Shrockworks with all the options it comes out to $2500.
That is a cut your fender out install, a better apple to apple would be the C4 Fab at about $ 3200.00

I have no skin in the game, but if someone asked me for that much cash up front with a back order of products, I'd think it was sketchy. Of course, I'm playing arm-chair quarterback here. Hope everyone can get refunds for the money they gave over.

I agree 100%

Oh, I think Demollo is offering 30% discounts for those with an undelivered invoice. Does not make up for it.. but at least it is something to possibly get out of it.

#pelfreybiltfamily :D

The legend of their $3500 bumper has only grown since their bankruptcy. Honestly don't get the hype of a now defunct company and product. AFAIK there are 2 customers that actually have it. One had a hand in developing it and never had a chance to take it to Baja before it was sold. They said the CBI bumper broke twice in Baja but whats to say that the Pelfrey wouldn't have broken as well? Just hard to know when there is such a small sample and the fact that it wasn't field tested over time.

People need to move on from this company, the bumper, and defending their actions. Many other manufacturers out there that produce FANTASTIC products. Shrockworks has minimal IG presence yet they continue to churn out bumpers and group buys. Does it sometimes take them 6 months? Sure but you will get a bumper delivered to your door. Not to mention they had to deal with the floods and hurricanes in Houston and were still able to deliver products to their customers. Less talk, less IG, and more work.

Just to be clear on something.. You don't cut the fenders with any of the bumper covers. that just adds to the propaganda a bit stating that.... so I want to clear that up.

You trim the stock plastic cover to leave a flexible piece between the body and the now rigid cover bonded to the frame. No fenders are cut.

It's a good thing to have that movement allowed. Otherwise there has to be significant gaps left. One design is no better than the other really. It is more complex to build up to the smooth lines of the body and keep it looking decent. You get a little more protection up higher, but nobody in a 5th gen leverages that anyway.

That approach was probably one of the downfalls of their design as it probably did not translate well for production work. You have to really know what you are doing to pull that off and make it look good. It's pretty easy to do as a one off. Each truck is different though so adjustments become part of the equation with that approach and it was most likely a big set back if they ever had intentions of delivery.

4x4 labs pulls it off well, but totally different animal (as it is an actual bumper that can be positioned on the frame) and there are huge gaps left. Still looks decent.

You are correct, my bad. I do like the protection up high, like to the bottom of the tail lights. Thanks for the correction.

This post should be removed as Pelfrey has filed for Bankruptcy

If it’s going to be removed my recommendation would be for a thread to be created somewhere on the board so those affected can keep tabs and post information. There are some really good and informative posts in this thread that are relevant.

Everyone that was a customer that was waiting for parts is on the list. I got one. I supposed we could all show up and be a giant pain in the ass for the court hearing. :jump:

That's my plan. I'm not going to be just a name on a list.

Didn't someone say part of Chapt 7 is nobody can go after the debtors for money or they'll be held "in contempt" I feel like if theres a mob it won't get anyone anywhere.

Well, since they're listed as creditors.... if enough people show up and say "hey, I ordered things as a customer, and they stole my money instead" then it starts to unravel the Pelfrey Pity Party.

1. Noone is defending PF's actions, despite what someone posted further up.

2. Plenty like the rear bumper design and would still buy it if available elsewhere.

3. BB has built a one-off (I guess) for gadget, very similar design (high to the tail lights) EXCEPT for the swing arm. I suggested we get BB to put that into production or take on designing one closer to PF's. I for one don't need the swingarms so BB's one-off will do. But, if he can copy PF's swingarms, well, I may just go for that.

4. PF filed personal bankruptcy. The orders were with PF Inc. So, what good is it, practically, to show up to the hearing?

5. Someone posted that your credit card company has you covered for this type of transaction for over 500 days. Debit cards are associated with a credit card company so can you guys have the same protection?

6. So, that leaves the rest who paid cash. Can you file a class action against PF Inc? Even so, I doubt they have any real assets.

7. I previously noted that there may be an auction for PF Inc to sell off its assets. I recall someone posted that there are some completed products in the shop? If so, you may want to go to the auction and bid on them. It's a long shot but, for someone local, it may be worthwhile. I'd even go as far as to contact the landlord and try to get him to sell you one for cheap. If they rented the place they surely are locked out now. Landlords typically take over the assets for unpaid rent. Another longshot...
