I 100% agree that it’s not fair and there is ZERO evidence of any wrong doing whatsoever on this member's part.
That said, he did assume the role of spokesman, cheerleader, answering design questions while even personally vouching for them. Even if it is the case that he so prominently put their name on his truck while plastering pictures everywhere without reward, I don’t think it’s unfair to point out that he gave them tons of priceless credibility. I would not be surprised if more than a few of our community members were swayed to buy based on his endorsement.
It’s a crap situation all the way round and I’m sure he feels horrible about how events played out.

Then the Pelfrey thing gave him uber-guilt. Hipsters seem to be super prone to that. It's the same with race - ie white guilt, and all the loser hipsters that apologize 10000x a day for "white privilege" and "cisgender privilege" like Anne Hathaway, lol.
Either way, it's not Lawndart's fault, but we could all learn from his sad story that sometimes you go out to optimize a new toy, and eventually you ruin the **** out of it and it starts ruining you. And if said toy has an Instagram page, you become a consumerist whore and the face of said products you represent, which ruins your reputation to a degree. Sucks, but it's true.
I thus suscribe to the notion that if I have enough time to do Instagram and uber mod my truck, then I'm not spending enough time in the actual woods, and need to rectify that shit. It's bad enough I make time for posts like this lol.
PS - The Pelfreys are scum for using him, and many others. If it's true they picked up a new Lexus, and moved to Texas (there's a song somewhere in that rhyme), then it's even shadier. $5 says the move has something to do with Texas' state laws re: certain kinds of business practice post-bankruptcy.... So.... keep your eyes peeled for these mofos in the modding community down the road.

Yeah, Lawndart has been more than transparent and fair about everything. I don't feel that he deserves any part of the blame here. He has no stake in the company that ripped people off. Frankly he put a lot of is own time, effort and input into helping them make a better product. The fact that they chose to be shady and steal peoples' money has nothing to do with him.

Allow me my 2 cents. In today's social media infested universe, brands like Pelfry now prey upon potential "brand ambassadors." Often giving discounts (not really) and allowing them to run amok touting their products. Free publicity and media generation. All the while making BANK on these people.
There are a lot more of them out there than just Lawndart. And some who are WAY off the reservation.
To each his/her own. It's really none of my business. That said - I think Lawndart should be welcome here for all the work he has done on his own accord.

For the record, I didn't lose a dime. I just saw the Lawndart build video on Overland Bound, and quickly realized that dude is way, way WAY out of hand.
Then I said it's not his fault, but he still contributed to the dumpster fire.
