Penalties for off roading in certain areas?

i dont know about jersey law but up here thats not true, yes you will get tresspassing, (here its $75) and you could possibly get unlawfull use of a motor-vehicle, and destruction of public property. but thats worst case kinda deal
as for B&E, even if you walk into a place with the door wide open, its a B&E, if the garage door is up its B&E,
if you can get ahold of the criminal code where you are be sure to check it out, its very interesting, oh and its good to read the highway traffic act too and keep it in your truck, it just may get you out of some trouble

Yes, but you are referring to entering a house. This post refers to off roading on public or private land. You are comparing apples to oranges. Case in point, when I was a teen, I jumped a fence into a neighbors yard to retrieve a baseball. The lady called the police and I was cited for trespassing. Another time, a couple of friends and I jumped a fence to play basketball in a private country club. Again, we were cited for trespassing NOT breaking and entering. Now I can understand if you are cited for breaking and entering if the property was gated and you broke thru the fence.

ok you made me break out my criminal code, and i just finished police college so its an official code,
so the only places you will get a break and enter charge is: a dwelling house, building or structure other than a dwelling house, a railway vehical, a vessel, an aircraft, a trailer, a pen or an enclosure in which fur bearing animals are kept in captivity for breeding or commercial purposes.
but to get back on topic, i have been stopped in this area out here called the clay pits, its some place where they manufacture bricks i think, tons of offroading happens there, all they ever got us for was trespassing,
but be carefull if offroading in construction areas due to the metal land markers, they tent to hide in the mud and pop tires

In don't disobey any signs for tresspassing , but sooner or later I will get busted. I pretty much go anywhere with my 4R. Just when out driving and I see a potential spot my curiosity get the best of me and I have to check it out.
Being part timer in law enforcement,I will be embarrassed for not following a no tresspassing sign's because I should know better.
When I was a local Deputy Sheriff I just usually gave a warning unless someone gave my lip or was plain stupid them I started writing. All depended on the situation.
I was out wheelin a little and ran into a guy with an FJ and we were not where we were supposed to be, a Deputy pulls up (off road) in his Tahoe, and just said you guys are not supposed to be here so you better leave......and he left, he was pretty cool.

Stick to trails and designated obsticle courses
Hey,
Off-roading on constuction sites and private property destorys the soil. Messes up gradeing, oil & coolant spills when doing doughnuts, and desturbs neighbors. Cops will defintely give you whatever ticket they can. Including impounding your car.
