I went to look at this truck for kicks and giggles

THE GOOD
v6
cruise
manual transmission
grey interior in decent shape
Nice wheels and tires
SR5 gauge cluster

THE BAD

194,565 miles in michigan snow
rusted beyond repair
homemade body lift made of wood
frame spray bombed black in bast 2 weeks
everything leaks oil was burning off the valve covers at idle
battery was held in place with a C clamp
looking in from the front i could see the carpet

the price was 1550 at a car dealership they took it in on trade i asked the guy what he had to have for it and when he said 1500 i burst out i couldn't stop myself he says well your the expert whats it worth and i said i would go 800 and that's because i wanted the interior and the tires and i would be scraping the rest. he said no the boss said get 1500 for it, i told him i got 800 cash and that he should cut his losses because your not going to get 1500. he said well its a 97 and its already a low cost i said its a 87 he couldn't fathom it so we Googled it on his phone. so he will call me tomorrow if they decide to take 800 cash.

i thought you guys would get a kick from this so here you go.

If a legitimate licensed dealership can't tell the difference between a model year on any vehicle or is grossly mis-stating specs, just tell them you will be reporting them to your States AG Office and other licensing agencies. Take some pics of the stickers and vehicle, etc. Ask them for proof it will pass emissions tests. By law it has to or they are responsible for repair costs (at least here). Then pay the thieves the $200 it's actually worth.

in Michigan the most off-road we have is called silver lake sand dunes its about 80 acres or sand dunes that is the only place we can ORV with Trucks. so that's what he meant but silver lake is a fashion statement you get a spotless truck put shiny wheels on it and drive around and sometime you might overheat or bust a sway bar but its not offroading because i took a caviler in and drove around in high school

no emission testing here
but the tires are like new so its worth at least 400, and the interior i want is worth 200 to me and a spare v6 to rebuild is worth 200 so 800 is not a bad offer in my eyes

What a two-bit used car dealer. Not that there's any shortage of those. I wouldn't offer a penny more than 800 for that piece of s***

When i was looking for 4 runner about a month ago i went to a dealership and saw a 2nd get with 250k miles. Check engine light was on and motor ran really rough. Was in ok shape and they wanted 4k for it. drove by few weeks later and it was raised to 6k then back down to 4k few days later. Its still sitting there and i doubt will ever sell. Then there was a 90's toyota pickup with alittle over 100k miles for 7 grand i cant believe dealerships.

What's worse is when people put all their trust into dealerships, assuming that they know what they're doing, and that they're honestly listing fair prices and giving you the honest truth about vehicles. :C

If you get it let me know I most certainly will want to buy some parts from it off you, mostly interior odds and ends.

dude the only reason i would pay 800 is for the interior to replace my red crap interior. but yes i will be posting the engine bits and driveline and other useless crap for sale.
anyone want some rusty fenders?????

you know i really couldn't say judging by the sr5 cluster and the wood body lift makes me wonder if he didnt swap a engine in and use bondo for engine mounts....lol

Aren't dealerships required to do paperwork that make them actually look at the title and data plates on these vehicles? You would think that a dealership would see the year stamped on the data plates and on the title.

Idiots!

And $1,500 is a fair stealership price. You could expect to pay at least a grand over what any vehicle is worth regardless of condition at a dealership. I'm surprised they're not asking more like $2,000!

If that was here at a dealership near Ft Campbell, some schmuck at a dealership would love to sell that to a private for $3,500 and finance him at 25%... Dealerships here are blood thirsty!
